In the mid 90’s, I was working at a old school mom and pop video store, which is where I also happened to meet my wife, I remember us having Gene Kelly binge fests before binging was a thing. We rented all of this movies including “An American in Paris”, the 1951 movie. The dancing! The music! This film was always a favorite of ours and it still stands the test of time. When the play was set to open a few years ago in Paris December 2014. I knew I had to see this production for sure. I was able to catch it on a National Tour and it was unforgettable. This live taping was filmed during the award-winning musical’s London run and features original stars Robert Fairchild and Leanne Cope. If you haven’t had a chance to see this on a stage, I would say make that a priority but this filmed version is also so beautifully done and packs the magic that was brought from the stage performance. Worth checking out!

One of the items on my bucket list is to definitely catch a play in West End. This recording came from a 2017 performance there and even though I couldn’t make it, we are able to still enjoy it at your local theater. I have been noticing that the recording of stage shows have been show in theaters much more commonly like last year “Disney’s Newsies” was released also in the same fashion. This production is simply beautiful. I have seen A LOT of shows on Broadway in NY and quite a few in Orlando, FL area also. But London is on point and really delivered such an beautiful magical journey with this play.

Honestly, I am just happy that the memory of people like Gene Kelly are still being preserved in today’s time where the old timers are fading away.  The music is so wonderful and I love how the songs are perfected for the musical format. The stars, Robert Fairchild and Leanne Cope, have great chemistry together and what talent actors they are! If you don’t catch a chance to see this musical, I have feeling it is not going away anytime soon. Hopefully, a Blu-ray release will follow these screenings and I have a feeling we are going to have several more tours and revivals over the years for this musical. Experience the Broadway hit An American In Paris in cinemas September 20 & 23. One good reason to check out the gaol is because the infamous bushranger Ned Kelly was hung for murder here back in 1880. Kelly become a cult figure in recent years as well, and this is the best place to know about his past! It’s surely one of the top things to see in Melbourne!

Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG)

The MCG, or the G, as the locals refer is the biggest stadium in Australia and a haven for cricket fans. It is home to the National Sporting Museum. Even if you’re not much of a sports fan, it’s recommended to visit MCG.

5 Things You Should Know About Marijuana Decriminalization In New Jersey

There have been talks in New Jersey surrounding the decriminalization of marijuana which has sparked a lot of mixed reactions from various constituents around the state. In fact, many have a differing opinion as to whether this is the right move to make or not.

There is a marijuana bill with issues surrounding both recreational and medical marijuana that is currently being reviewed. This bill proposes the expansion of the medical marijuana program and the legalization of possessing and using marijuana for adults above the age of 21 years. If this bill is to become law, the possession of an ounce of marijuana will immediately be decriminalized.

With that said, here are 5 things you should know about marijuana decriminalization in New Jersey:

  • It Will Result In An Increase In Marijuana Dispensaries

New Jersey currently has 6 medical marijuana dispensaries. With the passing of the bill to decriminalize marijuana, the result will be an increase in the number of these dispensaries. There is a possibility of hundreds of recreational dispensaries being set up across the state along with medical marijuana stores.

It is proposed that for each of the 40 legislative districts in Jersey there be at least two recreational dispensaries and an extra 40 in other places around the state. These dispensaries will be established systematically as the reported number of marijuana patients increases.

  • Predefined Places For Using Marijuana

With the decriminalization of marijuana, there would be predefined places in New Jersey where people would be allowed to consume it openly. In each of the marijuana dispensaries that is set up, there will be a lounge where people who’ve just bought the marijuana can consume it.

This is a progressive move for consumption in the public space as it was previously limited to consumption within a private residence.

  • Marijuana Taxes Will Be Applicable

There are marijuana taxes that will be applicable with its decriminalization. In the initial year, recreational marijuana will attract a 10% exercise tax for each purchase which will progressively increase to 15% in the following year. This will then grow to 20% in the third year followed by an increase to 25% in the 4th year and remain that way in the subsequent years that follow.

It is estimated that the New Jersey market will make around $300 million in tax revenue every year from marijuana. Medical marijuana tax will be eliminated after 3 years. Patients currently pay 7% tax.

  • Reduction Of Marijuana Related Crimes

Decriminalization of marijuana in New Jersey comes with the possibility of clearance of old marijuana arrests. People with recorded convictions of possession of marijuana in low-levels will be eligible for clearance of their charges but they will be required to apply for clearance.

There is a bill that has been introduced that will Expunge a Marijuana Charge in NJ. The expungements are expected to be automatic. The bill is however still being reviewed.

Nickelodeon’s Double Dare Kicks Off Multi-city U.S. Tour, Hosted by Original Host Marc Summers and Beloved Sidekick Robin Russo

Double Dare Live will feature two teams comprised of selected audience members competing to win prizes by answering brain-bending trivia questions, completing messy physical challenges and ultimately facing the legendary obstacle course.

The brand-new Double Dare series premiered this summer and was ranked as one of the top three shows with K6-11 on all TV. Double Dare is hosted by digital creator and actress Liza Koshy, with original host Marc Summers providing color commentary on the challenges and lending his vast knowledge of the game and expertise to each episode.

Double Dare premiered on Oct. 6, 1986, on Nickelodeon, and ran from 1986-1993, making it the network’s longest running game show. Marc Summers served as the show’s original host from 1986-1993. Shortly after its debut, Double Dare became one of the most popular original daily programs on cable television. The series went into syndication in 1988, and was later revived as Super Sloppy Double Dare in 1989.  The show also ran on broadcast television as Family Double Dare in 1988, followed by new versions on Nick, including Double Dare 2000.
