Human Scum! It is now that time of year and your Lords and Masters GWAR will soon awaken from their Antarctic slumber to devastate North America once again. The “Gore, Core, Metal and More” tour will be co-headlined by GWAR, and the mighty Hatebreed! This rolling heavy metal nightmare kicks off October 7th, following an appearance from GWAR at the Rock Allegiance Festival in Camden, NJ on October 6th. Before the tour begins, GWARis pleased as a bowl of bloody punch to share with you the new video for their epic song ‘Viking Death Machine,’ taken from their latest opus, 2018’s “The Blood of Gods,” a masterpiece of obscenity chronicling the rise of humanity against their makers, and the massive battle between GWAR and the forces of all that is uptight and wrong with the world. The video was created by Makinita Silva, an Ecuadorian masked Luchador who is also an independent 2-D animator.

Lucha Libre Pro Wrestling Video Games Gain Popularity

What’s behind the passion for Luca Libre pro wrestling video games?

Lucha Libre, or “free fight” to give the Spanish phrase its English meaning, is the name given to the Mexican wrestling phenomenon. Its roots date back to the early 1900s when Mexico was in the throes of a revolutionary war against the infamous dictator, Porfirio Díaz.

As is often the case in times of war, the public craved diversions that distracted them from the reality of what was going on around them. Giovanni Reselevich y Antonio Fournier (two Italian entrepreneurs) seized the opportunity to promote a form of fighting whereby two opponents fought each other hand to hand without either protection or weapons of any kind.

It was an extremely aggressive and violent sport with little or nothing in the way of rules or regulations. These fights became known as “Lucha Libre,” and the fighters were dubbed ”Luchadores.” From its beginnings in local town rivalry, Lucha Libre soon began to develop an immense following, first throughout Mexico as a whole, and more recently across the world.

What makes Lucha Libre so popular

There are two aspects of Lucha Libre that set it apart from other types of popular wrestling. First, there are the masks that the Luchadores wear. These were first popularised by arguably the best Luchadore of all time – El Enmascarado de Plata, or “Saint, the Silver Masked Man.”

The other trademark that sets Lucha Libre apart from other forms of pro wrestling is the technical and acrobatic aerial skills that fighters display, particularly in the lighter weight (peso-semicompleto) divisions.

Lucha mania is now globally rampant and, the recently launched Lucha Maniacs Slot Machine is leading the charge. There are a many Lucha Libre games you can play right now, and here are snippets of just a few.

Guacamelee and Guacamelee 2 by Drinkbox Studios

With an upgraded graphics engine and full of fabulous fresh fighting moves, this game tracks our now married farmer’s quest to defeat an evil menace that is out, not only to obliterate Mexico from the map, but time and space too.

With his powerful blue chicken buddy, Juan will take you with him through a world of dangers and fantastic new characters in this stunningly excellent follow-up to the original.

The Lucha Maniacs slot

Gaming house Yggdrasil came up with the great idea of combining people’s passion for playing slots, with the thrills and spills of the Lucha Libre pro-wrestling scene and they designed the Lucha Maniacs slot. It’s a 5-reel, 20 pay-line slot that you can play on all devices for just 20p.

This game comes complete with a free spin mode enabling players to start off with as many as 30 free spins. It incorporates random wilds, sticky wilds, stacked and wild wrestlers, and 3 x multipliers on Luchadores whereby you can accumulate more free spins, and shoot for its golden bet feature for larger wins.

Lucha Libre video games for kids

Between 2002 and 2005, American TV responded to the interest in Lucha Libre and at kiddy level by screening a cartoon series called Mucha Lucha. It was so popular that it was brought to the gaming industry in a video game for Gameboy Advance devices.

This is no doubt where many of today’s Lucha Libre fans first cut their teeth. At the time the game didn’t get the best of reviews, but lots of current LL game players may carry the guilty secret of their awakening to this particular brand of pro-wrestling.

The daddy of them all – Lucha Libre – Heroes del ring

Of course, no round-up of Lucha Libre pro-wrestling video games would be complete with mention of the daddy of them all – “Lucha Libre AAA – Heroes del ring.” “Heroes” comes out of the “Immersion” stables and was released for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 by Slang in October 2010. It was the first of the pro-wrestling video games to be based on Lucha Libre.

It uses real Mexican wrestlers as well as customisable Luchadores. Such was its success in Mexico that is was redeveloped by Sabarasa in Wii. It may seem a little outdated now, but it sparked off the Lucha Libre revolution and is still well worth a play.

Whether you are a devotee of the Lucha maniacs slot game or an avid fan of the Lucha Libre Britannia scene, there can be little doubt that this form of pro-wrestling is here to stay.

Filmed live in 1989 at the infamous Cathouse, “IT’S SO EASY” was never completely finished and has remained in the vaults, unseen and unreleased. The footage was recently uncovered for inclusion in the box set and has been digitally restored in 4K UHD from 16mm film transfers with the original conceptual scenes edited back in with the live footage, just as the band had originally intended.

Motograter Vocalist James Anthony Legion Talks About the Bands New Video For the Song”Daggers”

The heavy metal band Motograter are currently out on the road in support of their most recent release “Desolation” which was released early in 2017 and Media Mikes had the chance to speak with the bands singer James Anthony Legion about the tour, the bands current lineup and their most recent video for the track “Daggers”.

Adam Lawton: Can you give us some info the bands current tour and if you will be hitting new areas this time out?

James Anthony Legion: This is a short two week run that we set up to help break in some of our newer members. We will be hitting places like Seattle, Fresno, and Hollywood at the Viper Room which is place we really enjoy playing at. I don’t think we are hitting any new places this time around.

AL: Can you tell us about the bands new line up?

JAL: We have Aeon Cruz playing bass. She is the first ever female member of Motograter. Nuke had met her in Los Angeles and she is a really good bass player with a great look so we brought her in to the fold. We have never had a female in the band before and most of the time we are shirtless covered in body paint. Bringing a female into that situation obviously posed some issues (Laughs). We were able to figure something out and it looks really cool. We have also added Ryan Ramirez on drums. He is just a super sick player!

AL: With this being just a short run what are the bands plans after this leg wraps up?

JAL: We are trying to get a new album put together. In the mean time we are going out and doing a couple short tour runs here and there. We have another one set up with the guys from Terror Universal. That one will start after a festival show we have booked with Mushroomhead. We have a few other things in the works however we can’t announce those just yet.

AL: You just released a video for the song “Daggers” can you tell us about that?

JAL: That song is a real favorite of mine and one that I very much believe in. I think it has a great hook and the lyrics will speak to a lot of people. We are hoping this song will makes its way on to the radio much like “Dorian” did. We want to push this song the same way. It felt good having a song on the charts next to ones from bands like Korn and Stone Sour. With the look of the video we had ideas but Matt the director was really the guy behind that. We shot some stuff that in the end didn’t fit and we kept things to a pure performance type of video.

AL: Do you find it hard selecting one song to stand out above others you have a close relationship to?

JAL: For me it has a lot to do with the meaning behind the song and whether or not it strikes a chord with me. When I am writing I try to think about what is really on my mind and what is important. I try and transfer that to my lyrics. I feel if you are writing lyrics that mean something to you then chances are people will pick up on that and in turn they will mean something to them as well. If I feel I did a really good job getting my thoughts across and things are resonating then that’s a track that’s going to stand out.

AL: Where is the band currently in relation to the release of a new album?

JAL: We work in sort of a unique way. I am based in North Carolina while the majority of the band is in California. With me being a vocalist it’s a little easier for me as I don’t have to necessarily be there jamming on instruments. Nuke generally comes up with song ideas and then will send things over to me to add my stuff. He will then send something that is a little more finished and that’s when I add vocals. We have started working a little bit on things already but in between these two tours is when we plan to really start going.

Nintendo Switch Video Game Review “Batman: The Telltale Series”

I have played a few Telltale games to date including “Game of Thrones” and “Guardians of the Galaxy”. I was super excited to see that “Batman: The Telltale Series” came out back in August of 2016 but I never played it. When I saw it was came out on the Nintendo Switch, I was thrilled.  The teaming up of Telltale Games, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, and DC Entertainment is a match made in heaven for comic book nerds! This game plays so well on the Switch and really adds some great physical features using the joysticks that is not available on the other platforms. Having playing a few Telltale games before on systems like PS3 & PS4, this was my favorite experience and having it be Batman only makes it cooler! Must own!

I know people may trash Nintendo Switch saying it is not up to par like XBOX One X, which is not but it is also special in it’s own right that those systems don’t offer. I love the ability of having this game essentially on the go and in such high quality video and sound.  this game also features an award-winning cast of talent, including Troy Baker in the role of Bruce Wayne, Travis Willingham as Harvey Dent, Erin Yvette as Vicki Vale, Enn Reitel as Alfred Pennyworth, Murphy Guyer as Lieutenant James Gordon, Richard McGonagle as Carmine Falcone, Jason Spisak as Oswald Cobblepot, Dave Fennoy as Lucius Fox, Anthony Ingruber as John Doe, and Laura Bailey as Selina Kyle. No shortage of voice over talent here.

There are five episodes includes in this complete season collection:
Episode 1: Realm of Shadows / Episode 2: Children of Arkham / Episode 3: New World Order / Episode 4: Guardian of Gotham / Episode 5: City of Light

Please note for all parents, all episodes have been rated ‘Mature’ and make sure you know that this is NOT for kids. It is rated M for a reason. So no kiddie hanging around, this is mommy/daddy’s game. I am trying to rate each chapter and I am having a really hard time figuring out which I enjoyed more. I can honestly say that each chapter is better than the next. The first takes a little to get started but picks up speed quick! My favorite is probably City of Light if I had to choose right now. I really enjoyed Lady Arkham. She was a great villain in this season. Cool to see Batman going up against someone new and bad-ass to boot.

If you are looking to find out more information, VGR is the place to go to get all the trending video game news. Since the Nintendo Switch was a little late to this game only getting it in November of 2017, there is already a second season released called, “Batman: The Enemy Within” and is currently available on most platforms, except the Switch 🙁  So hopefully they have that in the plans coming up soon! I would love to see how they can even advance the technology with the Switch for future installments. Hopefully we won’t have to wait to long.

In 2016, the classic original line-up of Dokken featuring: Don Dokken, George Lynch, Jeff Pilson, and Wild Mick Brown reunited to play the world famous Loud Park Festival in Japan and one exclusive U.S. show in Sioux Falls, SD at Badlands. Fortunately for fans not in attendance at either show, cameras were there to capture the performances and now Frontiers Music Srl is set to issue “Return To The East Live (2016)” on April 20th!
In addition to the live recording, the original Dokken lineup entered the studio together and recorded a new song “It’s Just Another Day,” for the forthcoming release. The band shot a video for the song which can be viewed HERE.

The Vans Warped Tour is the largest traveling music festival in the United States, and the longest-running touring music festival in North America. This game is a sequel to a 2013 release that was about a young woman in a home where everyone was away for the night. The game offers you a western feel as there are beautiful landscapes with a story of a criminal who is trying to atone for his past deeds.
