Mark Morton Releases New Song “Save Defiance” Feat. Miles Kennedy

MARK MORTON RELEASES NEW SONG “SAVE DEFIANCE” FEATURING MYLES KENNEDY — LISTEN HERE

TOUR WITH LIGHT THE TORCH SET FOR NEXT MONTH

DEBUT ALBUM ANESTHETIC OUT MARCH 1

“Myles was our first and only choice for ‘Save Defiance,'” Morton says. “He’s such a tremendous talent and a remarkably down-to-earth and humble dude. Even before the instrumental pre-production demo was finished, we knew we were going to ask Myles to sing on it. We felt like it was a perfect fit for his voice. He dug the track and made it his own. I’m grateful to have had the chance to work with him.”

“Having the opportunity to work with Mark was a really cool experience,” Kennedy says. “I’d been a fan of his work with Lamb of God for a long time so I was honored when he asked if I wanted to sing on his record. Mark did a great job creating a track that would be inspiring for me to sing over. The first time I heard the music, a melody and lyric popped into my head. The creative process felt pretty effortless. I am really happy with how the song turned out overall.”

Mark Morton will embark on a co-headline tour with Light the Torch this spring. Moon Tooth will also appear. The live configuration of Morton’s band will include Mark Morales (Sons Of Texas) on lead vocals, Doc Coyle (Bad Wolves, God Forbid) on guitar, Nick Villarreal (Sons of Texas) on bass, and Art Cruz (Prong,Winds of Plague) on drums, plus additional special guest appearances along the way.

Can You Fuel Your Movie Addiction & Save Cash?

Photo by Joshua Hoehne on Unsplash

43 million people are classed as avid movie-goers, according to the Motion Picture Association of America. Of these movie-obsessed individuals, 11.1 million are aged between 25 and 39 years old. But, what about if you’re more than a lover of the flicks and you need to get your movie fix by attending the latest premieres? Despite these events costing thousands, it is possible to attend so long as you’re smart with your money.

Setting a limit

777 movies were released last year. No matter how much of a film buff you are, it would be practically and financially impossible to attend this many premieres. Therefore, at the start of each year, it’s wise to sit down and review the movies set to be released throughout the year and shortlist the ones that you’re most looking forward to. Set yourself a limit on the number of premieres you’ll attend, as well as the maximum amount of cash you’ll spend on your hobby.

Getting the most for your money

According to 1BoxOffice, it costs between $1,500 and $6,000 to attend a movie premiere. The cost varies greatly depending on the movie title, and the cast and crew involved in the production. Understandably, if you select to attend the premiere of several top movies, then the cost soon adds up. Therefore, it’s likely you’ll need to cover this costly expense via a credit card. To ensure you get the most for your cash, opt for a card which provides additional benefits, such as cashback or reward points. It’s worth utilizing unlimited movie passes for all the other movies you want to see throughout the year. For as little as $29.99 per month, you can watch as many movies as you want and save yourself a small fortune in the process.

Cut-price premiere tickets

Some movie companies offer free premiere tickets to avid movie fans. Therefore, before you fork out your hard earned cash on a ticket, contact the movie studio who made the movie and ask if they have any tickets to the premiere available. Another option is to sign up to a specialist movie club which offers their members the option of buying discounted premiere tickets. Some charities will also hold auctions where premiere tickets can be bid on. So, keep your eyes peeled for low cost ways of bagging a spot at the hottest premiere.

A movie obsession can set you back thousands. This is especially the case if the desire to attend the latest premieres won’t leave you. However, by setting yourself a strict limit and budget, seeking out the best payment options and hunting for great deals, you can continue to fuel your movie addiction and save cash.

Save Ferris front-woman Monique Powell talks about the bands reformation and upcoming EP “New Sound”

Monique Powell is the lead singer of the Orange County ska-punk band Save Ferris. After a 15 year break the band is set to release a new EP in February titled “New Sound” and embark on a US tour also starting in February. Media Mikes had the chance to speak with Monique recently about the bands return, their pledge music campaign and about working with producer John Avila.

Adam Lawton: Can you give us some background info on the reformation of the group in 2013 and leading up to where the group is now in 2016?

Monique Powell: In 2012, I was diagnosed with a degenerative spine condition that had caused irreparable spinal cord damage in my neck. I was told by doctors that, without emergency surgery I could eventually lose my ability to walk. The catch was that, the surgery I needed was typically performed from the front of the neck, an issue that would have prevented me from ever singing again. I had one doctor say to me “Do you want to sing or do you want to walk?”. At that point, I became determined to find a doctor that could perform the surgery I needed through the back of my neck, a procedure considered far more dangerous, painful, and with far more required rehabilitation. The minute before I went under anesthesia for the difficult surgery, I decided I was going to bring Save Ferris back if I woke up from the procedure with my ability to walk and my voice intact. This is what led to the reincarnation of Save Ferris in 2013. I had to relearn how to hold my head up, how to do simple tasks with my arms, and through it all, I had Save Ferris and the fans to aim for. The response to the shows in 2013 was so positive, I decided to bring us back for good!

AL: What was it like heading back into the studio after being away from that process for so long?

MP: At first, scary. I didn’t eat for days prior due to nerves but then something happened and the magic of John Avila filled the studio, and, I settled in beautifully. It was as if a day hadn’t gone by.

AL: How did the relationship with producer John Avila come together?

MP: John produced the first Reel Big Fish album which was the first album I ever sang on when I was about 19 years old. We had a great time recording “She Has a Girlfriend Now” for Reel Big Fish and I never forget John’s kindness and calm demeanor. When I was shopping for producers for my new stuff, John’s name came up, and I thought, “how crazy would it be if this all came around full circle”. So I scheduled a meeting and here we are.

AL: Can you tell us about the pledge music campaign that is happening around the new EP?

MP: Well, being a band that was virtually inactive for so long, I had no idea how I would finance a new album. Thanks to Pledge and our fans, this new album has been made possible. It has been really fun, we had a studio party with our fans that donated to be on the record it was an epic night for all of us.

AL: Can you tell us about the upcoming tour and what other plans you and the band have for 2017?

MP: The band and I are all so excited to be finally touring together. It really is a dream come true for us, and I cannot believe it is actually happening. I’ve worked so hard for 3 years to make this possible. As for 2017, after we release the EP early in the year, and the 6 week Fall tour of North America, we will continue working on a full length album. If all goes as planned, we will release the full length prior to our 2017 summer tour so fingers crossed!

Save The Date: Lionsgate And Nu Image Throw “The Big Wedding”

All-Star Ensemble Comedy Unspools Stateside October 19, 2012

Santa Monica, CA, August 02, 2011– LIONSGATE® (NYSE: LGF), a leading global entertainment company, and Nu Image are thrilled to announce THE BIG WEDDING, a Nu Image / Millennium Films production that Lionsgate will be distributing in the U.S. and the U.K. The announcement was made jointly by Joe Drake, President of Lionsgate’s Motion Picture Group, Jason Constantine, Lionsgate’s President of Acquisitions and Co-Productions, and Avi Lerner, Founder and Co-Chairman of Nu Image, who is handling international sales of the film.

The film, which boasts an all star cast including Robert De Niro, Susan Sarandon, Diane Keaton, Katherine Heigl, Amanda Seyfried, Robin Williams, Ben Barnes and Topher Grace, is currently shooting in Greenwich, Connecticut.

Written and directed by Justin Zackham (THE BUCKET LIST), the film centers around Don (De Niro) and Ellie (Keaton), a long divorced couple being forced to pretend that they are still happily married at their son’s wedding. Among all of their family and friends, the hoax snowballs into a poignant and raucously funny story about the ties that bind.

Nu Image’s Avi Lerner, Danny Dimbort and Trevor Short are executive producing, with Justin Zackham, Clay Pecorin, Richard Salvatore and Harry Ufland producing.

“THE BIG WEDDING is a charming, rollicking movie that promises to be an instant intergenerational family comedy classic,” explains Drake of the film’s appeal to the studio. “We are thrilled to be in business once again with Avi and Nu Image,” adds Constantine. “After our success together with action genre films like THE EXPENDABLES and the upcoming CONAN THE BARBARIAN, this film presented a wonderful opportunity to expand our collaborative horizons into the realm of broad comedy.”

“Our relationship with Lionsgate has always been mutually beneficial and one of great respect. A film like THE BIG WEDDING only reinforces that idea and takes our relationship to the next level,” says Lerner. “We know that Lionsgate’s faith in us to deliver on all of the potential of this comedy is well placed.”

Negotiations on behalf of Lionsgate were overseen by Constantine along with Lionsgate’s SVP of Acquisitions Eda Kowan and EVP of Business & Legal Affairs Wendy Jaffe.
