Gary Owen talks about his new film “Think Like a Man” and his comedy tour

Gary Owen is an actor/comedian who is currently filming the Screen Gems comedy “Think Like A Man” based on Steve Harvey’s best-selling book “Act Like a Lady, Think Like a Man”. He is one of the headliners on the upcoming “Shaquille O’Neal All-Star Comedy Jam” which begins this September. He is taping his own one-hour comedy special on Sept. 2nd at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas. Besides movies and stand-up, Gary also co-stars as “Zach” the barber on Tyler Perry’s “House of Payne” TV series.  Media Mikes had a chance to chat with Gary about his comedy and also his films.

Mike Gencarelli: Can you give us some background on your current tour?
Gary Owen: I just finished shooting a movie titled “Think Like a Man” with Michael Ealy and Jerry Ferrara, so I have been off the road for about six weeks. I am in Miami this weekend then during the first week in September I will be shooting my hour long special from Mandalay Bay. For the rest of the fall, I am on the “Shaquille O’Neal All-Star Comedy Jam” which puts us in a different city every Friday and Saturday. I will be working through the rest of the year…so it’s good.

MG: What can you tell us about working on “Think Like a Man”?
GO: The film is a romantic comedy about six friends who are all at different stages in their relationships. I play the happily married guy. What happens is the girlfriends/wives of these six guys get a hold of a book title “Act Like a Lady, Think Like a Man”. In the book are all these different tests to put a guy through to find if their guy is the right one for them. One night while hanging out the guys start talking and realize that their ladies are putting them all through the same tests. We find a way to get the book and we jump the gun and start doing what they think they want us to do.  However we aren’t actually doing the things and that’s when chaos ensues. It’s a really funny film and I can’t wait for it to come out.

MG: How did you land the spot as a headliner on “Shaquille O’Neal All-Star Comedy Jam”?
GO: About a year ago I did the Mike Epps comedy special which aired on Showtime. Cole Black who puts on all the “Shaquille O’Neal All-Star Comedy Jam” saw that and put me on the tour. However prior to the tour starting, they have me doing my own hour long special.. then it’s on to the tour. I am very excited!

MG: What can we expect to hear about in your set?
GO: A lot of my comedy is about my life. I am married to a black girl and I married real black! I didn’t go Hillary Banks. My wife is from Oakland and went to public school. I couldn’t break up with her if I wanted to because I am sort of scared of her [laughs]. I said if I was going to this and marry a black woman I was going to be in it to win it.  I wanted one that was inner city black! [laughs]

MG: You are filming the special on Sept. 2 at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, do you know when and where it will be airing?
GO: We don’t just yet. I know they are going to be doing some creative cross promotions as they want the special to air about a month before the movie comes. By doing that out it allows them to promote the movie while my special is airing. I can’t say right now but we have received word that one of the networks is interested in buying the special.

MG: How does if feel to be named by Ebony magazine “Black America’s Favorite White Comedian”?
GO: That’s unreal and it was like Dirk Nowitzki in the finals! Who knew? When I first got on television I was on BET and couldn’t get on another network. BET liked me and kept airing me and they were the ones who gave me my first job. Most of the stuff I have been on like “House of Payne” and the films I have appeared in have black lead actors. I love black people and they love me back!

MG: How do you feel doing stand-up differs from when you are acting?
GO: It’s a natural transition. When you’re doing stand-up you hope it leads to doing sitcoms and then onto movies and in the same token with sitcoms and movies you are trying to build you stand-up base. The more people you can reach the better. I am always going to do stand-up. It’s my drug!

Interview with Robert Miles

Robert Miles is an Italian musician and DJ of electronica and alternative music and is known best for his track “Children” from his debut album “Dreamland” in 1994. Since then Robert has “23am” in 1997, “Organik” in 2001, “Miles_Gurtu” in 2004 and his latest “Th1rt3en” in 2011. Media Mikes had a chance to chat with Robert about his career, his new albums and his plans for what’s to come.

Mike Gencarelli: Before the internet was the internet, I remember hearing your track “Children” in 1995 and being blow away; how do you feel the song would be received if it was received today?
Robert Miles: Probably in the same way it got received back then. The new generation is discovering the track now and many think it’s a new tune and are surprised when they get to know that it was produced 17 years ago (amazing how time goes so fast!).

MG: Why the 7 years span between “Miles_Gurtu”, your 4th album and your latest “Th1rt3en”?
RM: I have been involved with more soundtracks work.  I opened a studio in the heart of Ibiza in the Balearic Islands, became father and worked on a big remodeling project (a 500 years old ‘finca’ aka farmer’s house) in Ibiza) designing and managing it myself…very time consuming!

MG: What has been your primary inspiration for “Th1rt3en”?
RM: After “Organik” and “Miles_Gurtu”, I wanted to explore more the nature of alternative rock and use mainly electric guitar…I got in touch with Robert Fripp (King Crimson) and Dave Okumu (The invisible) as I really like the way they play their instrument and asked them if they wanted to collaborate…they accepted and we put together the parts in various sessions. I usually get inspiration from everyday life experiences …and try to convey those experiences and my feelings through my music in order to be able to connect with the audience. I am so pleased when people send me a message saying that they felt the same emotion/energy while listening to the music…it is so rewarding. Makes you think…I want to do more.

MG: How long did the album take to complete from beginning to end?
RM: The composing process 6 years…as I was working on it during my spare time (from fatherhood and all the other projects I had going) in various cities (Mainly London, Berlin, Ibiza and Los Angeles)…the recordings were done in London within two weeks from when we started.

MG: I love “Voices From a Submerged Sea”, tell us about creating that song?
RM: It’s the track with most downloads, funnily enough. A live strings orchestra was used to record it. It’s a very cinematic track and refers to the ‘voices’ that one can hear from within…An introspective piece I have done in a moment of peaceful solitude in Ibiza during the winter. A new video has been released for it (each photogram is hand made and drawn simply with a Bic pen) and you can watch it here:

MG: Is there a track on the album that you favor over the others?
RM: Maybe “The Wolf”. For its simplicity and what it conveys.

MG: Your music videos are very artistic and well designed, specifically ‘Miniature World”, what is your involvement in their creations?
RM: Thank you. I am very much involved with the artistic side of my videos, especially since I have control of my music (that’s since I have opened my own label Salt Records in London, back in 2000). It’s very important for me to deliver quality videos together with my music. Something that hopefully will stand in time and will be seen more as a art form than a promotional tool by the future generations.

MG: How do you approach remixing your songs so soon after just releasing them?
RM: Not an easy task if I have to be honest. Especially because you have listened to that track so many times already (when producing/mixing it) and you just want to move on to the next thing. But in the end I always come up with an idea, or more than one, and ‘sculpt’ the original version into something totally different. Challenging.

MG: Tell us about your reason you chose to blend alternative and progressive rock with ambient and electronic soundscapes?
RM: I come from the electronic side of the music spectrum…and since I have moved to London in 1996, I have tried to incorporate other genres into my productions…as I wanted to achieve a more ‘human’ sound (and less computer sounding) . “Organik” had world and rock music elements, while “Miles_Gurtu” had jazz influences. I am a big fan of blending electronic together with acoustic sounds. I think it’s a great combination.

MG: Tell us about the film soundtrack you’re working on for “The Turn of this Century”?
RM: It’s going to be a pretty cool project…60 minutes of music and images…and a voice over….three elements working in tandem and creating a real audio sensorial and visual ‘journey’ through the events of the last 100 years on our planet…featuring the photography of LIFE magazine….mind blowing. The ‘ journey of your life’…literally speaking! Coming soon…everywhere!

MG: Are you planning to tour at all for this new album?
RM: Unfortunately it would be almost impossible as most of the musicians that have been involved have their own band and touring constantly…So I am currently DJing and run several radio shows on different station around the globe…that displays the more electronic side of Robert Miles here:

CD Review Jasta “Jasta”

Entertainment One
Producer: Steve Ross/Jamey Jasta
Tracks: 12

Our Score: 4 out of 5 stars

From start to finish Jamey Jasta’s second solo album simply titles “Jasta” is a sonic assault on your senses. “Jasta” grabs you with its opening track “Walk That Path Alone” and doesn’t let go until the last note of “Death Bestowed” rings out. This album in my opinion truly shows Jamey’s pure vocal talent. The album is full of signature Jasta gravel vocals but it also showcases Jasta’s range as a singer. Tracks such as “Nothing They Say” and “Something You Should Know” are prime examples as they both show that Jamey can do much more than just scream or growl.

The thing I liked most about the album besides the guest vocal appearances by people such as Zakk Wylde (Black Label Society) and D. Randall Blythe (Lamb of God) was that Jamey reached out to his fans in an effort to fund the album. Prior to the album’s release fans could purchase items through Jamey’s web store and in return their name would appear in the albums linear notes. The second I heard this I jumped and board and I have to say it was really cool to get the album and see my name along with the other fans that helped with the album listed in the special thank you section.

Jamey Jasta really brings it with his new “Jasta” album. The only negative I could find was that even though the album features 12 tracks it only clocks in at around 35 minutes. Though this isn’t necessarily a bad thing as the album definitely gets its point across your average listener may shy away from the release for a more quantity over quality approach.

Track Listing:
1.) Walk That Path Alone
2.) Mourn the Illusion
3.) Nothing They Say
4.) Screams from the Sanctuary
5.) Say Anthem of the Freedom Fighter

The Humans (ft. Bill Rieflin Of R.E.M.) Play New York At Highline Ballroom On 9.27

THE HUMANS are an innovative, three-piece, contemporary rock band comprising Toyah Willcox, Bill Rieflin and Chris Wong. The group brings together three lifetimes of musical experience, experimentation and craftsmanship. The band are the brainchild of Toyah Willcox.

THE HUMANS were formed in 2007 after Toyah was invited by the Estonian ambassador to tour Estonia. Highly experimental, the band reflects the distinctly different musical backgrounds and life experiences of its members. This creative formation marked a radical departure for Toyah who comments: “The songs are deconstructed down to the bones of raw experience, exposing human nature and irony”. Dispensing with the conventional rock band line-up, the DNA of The Humans consists of the voice (taking much more of a role as instrument) flanked by two bass players, with no designated drummer or guitarist. Although recorded and live work can include programmed drumming, beats or guest guitar, the intention is to allow space for the vocal to sit above and alongside the sound scape rather than compete with the noise of a rock band.

Before they had ever set foot into a recording studio, The Humans premiered their material in 2008 with a sell-out series of concerts in Estonia attended by the Estonian president. These songs then formed the basis of their debut album We Are The Humans, which was recorded in Bill Rieflin’s home ground of Seattle. Produced by Rieflin, the 10-song album was mixed by Don Gunn & Rieflin and mastered by Simon Heyworth (Tubular Bells, Brian Eno). It was released in May 2009 to coincide with the band’s return to Estonia to headline at ‘Tartufest’. Album highlights include the eerily, ambient Quicksilver, the majestic, Demigod and the live band-groove of Icarus. The Humans quickly carved out their sound as European experimental meets West Coast American grunge with overarching avant-garde and filmic qualities.

The album received its UK digital release in September 2009 along with the band’s first single, ‘These Boots Are Made For Walkin’, a provocative, 21st century twist on the Nancy Sinatra classic, featuring guest guitar from Robert Fripp. This track was recently used by the BBC on their television
coverage of the World Cup football final matches, reaching a substantial audience of worldwide viewers and listeners.

The Humans marked their first ever live UK appearances with a series of warm-up concerts in the very intimate and beautiful surroundings of St. Michael’s & All Angels’ Church and St. Anne’s Church, Worcester. These were followed up by dates across the UK, featuring special guest Robert Fripp playing live with the band.

They also appeared on the bill of acts invited to perform at The Roundhouse for the Helping Haiti fundraiser concert. The Humans tour culminated in a headline date at London’s Scala, yielding a 4-star review from the Financial Times who concluded it was an “intriguing, often terrific, show” with “programmed beats, sinewy, rumbling rhythms, a kind of twisted funk”.

Their set included a presentation of the entire debut album, newly written songs and their unique interpretations of These Boots Are Made For Walkin’ alongside the Hendrix classic, Purple Haze.

THE HUMANS have dedicated three years to establishing their sound, songs and performance. Crystallizing what is at the core of The Humans’ manifesto, the album Sugar Rush bears a cinematic density with stirring moments of exhilarating energy (Sugar Rush) tender contemplation (Love In A Di¬erent Way) and brooding soundscapes (Sea Of Size). The album also features guest guitar on all tracks from Robert Fripp.

Concerts are being lined-up to include UK, Europe and USA and may include cinemas, theatres, churches and other unusual spaces alongside traditional rock venues.

The End Records are proud to announce the September 27, 2011 release of the album Sugar Rush which will be supported by US concert dates.

Interview with Chris Zylka

Chris Zylka is co-starring in “Shark Night 3D”, playing the character Blake.  After this film Chris is going up against piranhas in “Piranha 3DD”.  Next year he is gearing up to play Flash Thomspon in Sony’s reboot for “The Amazing Spider-Man”.  Chris took out a few minutes to chat about role in “Shark Night 3D” and what we has planned upcoming.

Mike Gencarelli: Tell us about playing Blake in “Shark Night 3D”?
Chris Zylka: Blake is a college student and a football player.  He is best friends with Malik in the film, who is played by Sinqua Walls.  He is a corky guy but has high self-esteem and also a bit cocky.  He has a passion for his friends and it really show a different side of him.

MG: What would you say was the challenging part of working on the film?
CZ: I would say the most challenging part was sitting in the middle of a lake on a boat…in the summer…in Louisiana [laughs].  It tends to get pretty hot down in the South.

MG: So from what I am told, David R. Ellis is the coolest director ever; is that correct?
CZ: Oh my goodness, he is like a friend from home.  He is just a chill cool guy that knows how to make action movies.  I think everyone is going to be really impressed with what he has done with this.

MG: You are also in “Piranha 3DD” this Fall, how was it going from sharks to piranha?
CZ: Well piranhas are a bit smaller [laughs].  It was a different experience and it has a different storyline.  I would say it is a bit of a different genre also, even though it seems similar.  “Piranha 3DD” is that campy movie where you want to go to the movies, have fun and watch people be torn apart [laughs].  Where as “Shark Night 3D” is a bit more character driven and you care for each character.  You want them to win rather than the sharks.

MG: Tell us about your role Kyle in the film?
CZ: Kyle is the local deputy sheriff.  He recently broke up with his high school sweetheart due to college and she comes back into town. After that havoc starts.

MG: Tell us about your role of Billy on The CW’s new show “The Secret Circle”?
CZ: Billy is a newcomer and you have to watch and find out [laughs].

MG: Next year your playing Flash Thompson in “The Amazing Spider-Man”, how was that experience?
CZ: I can tell you it was an amazing experience working for Mark Webb.  Ari Arad is the king of comic book films.  Andrew (Garfield) and Emma (Stone) are just a pleasure to work with.  They are bringing stuff to the table that people are going to really become attached to and really love.

MG: What do you particularly look for when you take on a role?
CZ: First off, I look at what I have done in the past.  Is it too similar?  You do not want to be typecast in a specific role. What is the biggest challenge?  You always want to challenge yourself to grow as an artist.

Film Review “The Debt”

Starring: Marton Csokas, Jessica Chastain and Sam Worthington
Directed by: John Madden
Rated: R
Running time: 1 hour 54 mins
Miramax

Our Score: 3 1/2 out of 5 stars

The year is 1997. The place is Tel Aviv, Israel. The occasion is a book launching party for Sarah Gold (Romi Aboulafia). Her book is the story of how three young MOSSAD agents infiltrated East Berlin in 1966 and captured and killed Dieter Vogel (Jesper Christensen), better known as “The Surgeon of Berkenau,” a place more commonly known as Auschwitz. Two of the agents involved attend the party, mostly because they are Sarah’s parents. But as the tale unfolds, we learn that what we believe to be true often isn’t.

Based on the 2007 Israeli film “Ha-Hov,” the majority of the film deals with the operation to kidnap and return Vogel, who is working in East Berlin as a fertility doctor, to Israel to stand trial. The three agents given the assignment are Stephan (Csokas), Rachel (Chastain) and David (Worthington). Rachel and David are pretending to be a young married couple who cannot conceive, causing them to visit Vogel (now referred to as Doctor Bernhardt). Though there seems to be some chemistry between the two, it is Stephan and Rachel who make beautiful music (both physically and literally in a bit of piano-playing foreplay). As the plan proceeds we think we know the outcome but, as I said, don’t believe everything you see (or read).

Skillfully directed by John Madden, who earned an Academy Award nomination for the Oscar-winning Best Picture “Shakespeare in Love,” “The Debt” is a thriller that keeps you guessing up to the end. It also boasts two talented groups of actors. While Csokas, Chastain and Worthington give life to their characters in the flashbacks, the characters are played in later years by Tom Wilkinson, Helen Mirren and Ciaran Hinds, all veterans at the top of their game here. All six give strong performances and it’s a relief to see Worthington not standing in front of a green screen and doing some actual emoting. The story flows nicely for the first ninety minutes or so. It’s only at the end, when 66 year old Mirren goes into her “RED” mode, that the film feels forced. It’s as if the filmmakers felt they needed to take the story PAST the logical ending just to prove they weren’t making a conventional film.

The set decoration by Jim Clay is outstanding, capturing the look of Cold War Berlin perfectly. Thomas Newman’s score helps drive the action as well.

3D Blu-Ray Review “Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas”

Directed by: Henry Selick
Starring: Danny Elfman, Chris Sarandon, Catherine O’Hara, William Hickey, Glenn Shadix, Ken Page
Distributed by: Walt Disney Pictures
MPAA Rating: PG
Running time: 76 minutes

3D Blu-ray Film: 5 out of 5 stars
Extras: 5 out of 5 stars

I have been a fan of “Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas” since the first time I saw it in the theaters in 1993. Since then it has captivated audiences and became a major cult classic. In 2006, it was put back into theaters with new added 3D technology…I was in heaven. Since then it was also released in 2007 through 2009 in 3D during the Halloween season. So when the news was announced that Disney was releasing this film on its pristine Disney 3D Blu-Ray, I was out of my mind. I have to say, I have seen this film probably 100 times but watching it on 3D Blu-Ray was like it was the first time again. I was seeing new things that I have never seen before and hearing things I have never heard before. The picture quality was so clear and bright (despite the fact that most of the film is dark and black). The music was so fantastic in glorious 7.1 surround sound, which Disney never fails to include. I think my neighbors windows shattered for sure with the volume I watched it at. Let me just say that since I received this Blu-Ray, I have in fact watched it 5 times and it is not even September yet. I might need to go out and purchase a new one before Christmas due to wear. If you do not have a 3D TV or Blu-ray, now might be the time to start things about it because this is a release that you do not want to miss.

The extras on this disc are jam packed and are similar to the 2008 release. First there is audio commentary by producer Tim Burton, director Henry Selick and composer Danny Elfman from 2008 and it was actually recorded separately. Christopher Lee reads “Tim Burton’s Original Poem”, which inspired the film and is backed by animated concept art. “The Making of Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas” is a six-chapter 1993 television special that covers the development, overall production and of course the music of the film. “The Worlds of The Nightmare Before Christmas” focuses on its three production settings “Halloween Town”, “Christmas Town” and “The Real World” with concept art and character designs. There are three deleted storyboards, “Behemoth Singing,” “Oogie Boogie with Dancing Bugs” and “Alternate Identity of Oogie Boogie”. There are also four fully animated deleted scenes, “Jack’s Scientific Experiments,” “Vampire Hockey Players,” “Lock, Shock and Barrel” and “Oogie Boogie Shadow Dance.” Next up is a feature called “Storyboard to Film Comparisons” it is a short comparison, nothing special. “What’s This? Jack’s Haunted Mansion Holiday Tour” shows how The Haunted Mansion attraction gets a “Nightmare Before Christmas” redux. Fans of Time Burton will be happy to have the “Frankenweenie” and “Vincent” shorts, even though they are not in HD. Lastly there are the film’s teaser and theatrical trailers and a gallery of “Nightmare” posters. These are some amazing special features even though nothing is new for this release.

Blu-Ray Review “BKO: Bangkok Knockout”

Starring: Gitabak Agohjit, Speedy Arnold and Supakson Chaimongkol

Running time 105 minutes

Film: 2.5 out of 5 stars
Extras: 2.5 out of 5 stars

Right off the bat since this film is directed by Panna Rittikrai (“Ong Bak” Series & “Born To Fight”), it immediately has my attention. Unfortunately once they try and introduce a ridiculous plot into this film, they lost my attention. I understand that in these films you are really only suppose to focus on the fighting but I had a hard time with the terrible sub-plot. The film definitely contains some amazing death-defying action and a huge range of martial arts techniques from Muay Thai to Kung Fu to Tai Chi. Fans of martial arts film and specifically the “Ong Bak” series, check this out but only for the fighting and not the story.

The story focuses on a group of friends who are in a fight club who are trying out for a TV show but it turns out to be a life or death game. The game is that people are bidding against them to win or lose and they are left fighting for their life. They must join forces and fight for their lives and also rescue their kidnapped friend in the process. Of course there is twists and turns but overall all you really need to care about is the fight scenes. The sub-plot is so cheesy and laughable that I had a hard time focusing on the action.

The Blu-Ray presentation is one of the best parts of the disc. The picture is crisp and clear. The sound is bone-breathtakingly good. I mean you literally hear the fighting like it is in your living room. The extras are lacking a bit but include “The Making of BKO: Bangkok Knockout” and “Behind the Scenes”. These two features are essential for an action film because you get to see how they did all these amazing stunts and fights scenes. Also included is a trailer to the film. Overall worth at least one watch but repeat value is just not there.

Blu-Ray Review “The Perfect Host”

Directed by: Nick Tomnay
Starring: David Hyde Pierce, Clayne Crawford
MPAA Rating: R
running Time: 93 minutes
Distributed by: Magnolia Pictures

Film: 3.5 of 5 stars
Extras: 1.5 of 5 stars

I would categorize this film as a dark comedy and its quite dark but also quite funny. David Hyde Pierce gives one of the best performances of his career. He is funny. He is creepy. He just is perfect for the role. He even has this fantastic walk throughout the film. The Blu-ray presentation is top-notch. The picture is great and the sound plays perfectly between the music and dialogue.

The story focuses on John Taylor (Crawford) a criminal that is on the run after committing a major crime. He face is all over the news and he decides to hide out in the house of Warwick Wilson (Pierce). When things get out of control, John takes things to the next level but finds out that he might be in well over his head.  The story is spaced very well until the end when it switches gears and gets a little lost.  It tries a little too hard to be smart then it needs to but overall it succeeds on most accounts.

The only real special feature on the disc is “Making of The Perfect Host”. It runs about 10 minutes and features writer/director/editor Nick Tomnay talks about his 26 minute black-and-white short that he expanded into this feature-length film. Also included is “HDNet: A Look at The Perfect Host”, which is basically an extended trailer with a few short interviews. Lastly there is the trailer attached. Overall good movie, disappointing extras.

Billboard declared them the best selling female group of all time, breaking the record previously set by Motown’s The Supremes. Wilson Phillips was nominated for five Grammy Awards, an American Music Award and won a Billboard Music Award (for “Hold On” and “Release Me,” written by Phillips). Taking a break from the group, Phillips released a successful solo album entitled “Naked & Sacred,” while also filming and starring in the lead role of the television remake of famed Broadway musical “Bye Bye Birdie.” That same year she also married husband and fellow actor William Baldwin. She then took time off to focus on family, and had three children, while also reclaiming herself and becoming a Christian. In 2004 she reunited with Wilson Phillips and they released their 3rd album, “California,” which paid homage to west coast musicians from the 1960s and 1970s. In 2009 Phillips teamed up with singer/songwriter Vaughan Penn to form the Christian pop duo Chynna & Vaughan, and put out an album entitled “One Reason.” Shortly thereafter, Wilson Phillips also released their 1st Christmas album, “Wilson Phillips Christmas in Harmony.” Earlier this year, it was announced that Wilson Phillips would be reuniting again for an album of original music to celebrate their 20 years together as a musical group. Since then she has played for the Atlanta Beat and currently plays for magicJack as the starting goalkeeper, and is a two-time WPS All Star. “I tip my hat to Mike G,” says Smith.  “To recognize that movie fans also have their favorite television and online programs was brilliant on his part.  The “Walking Dead” series brought us a lot of new site visitors and the increased focus on both television and web programming has given us great word of mouth among fans.”
Since launching, the site has featured over 400 interviews with such Hollywood stars as Denzel Washington, Burt Reynolds, Jason Lee and Colin Hanks.  MovieMikes also interviewed some great behind the camera talent, including directors John Carpenter, Keith Gordon, John Lee Hancock and Charles Martin Smith as well as Oscar nominated composers Alan Mencken and Alexandre Desplat.  Earlier this year the site was chosen by publisher Moonrise Media to be the first outlet to read and review the bestselling book “Jaws: Memories from Martha’s Vineyard.”

The new, revamped site launched this past weekend.
