TV shows and films that have featured Las Vegas

Las Vegas is one of the most famous cities in the United States. It is therefore understandable that Sin City would feature in many television episodes and films. Not all of them have focused on the gambling aspect of Vegas, although most contain small elements of it.

We’ve taken a look at three times a TV show or movie has been located in Las Vegas. If you don’t fancy making a trip to a brick-and-mortar casino, you can try games like rainbow riches at online casinos.

The Simpsons

The Simpsons has featured episodes from all over the globe, including England, France, Brazil and China. But episode 10 of season 10, titled “Viva Ned Flanders”, sees Homer Simpson take his neighbour Ned Flanders to Las Vegas after Flanders wishes to become more impulsive.

While in Sin City, the pair stay at “Nero’s Palace” and play roulette, win some money and get drunk. They awake the next morning in the hot tub in their room, only to discover a couple of waitresses who they have married. In disbelief, Homer and Flanders believe it’s a scam; however, when their new brides produce the wedding video, the pair look astonished to discover it was all true.

At breakfast, Homer and Ned attempt to run away from their new wives, but are eventually surrounded by the hotel’s employees. They are thrown out of Nevada and their new wives tell them to never try and marry them again.

Last Vegas

Last Vegas is about three retired friends: Sam, Archie and Paddy, who are stuck in a rut in their respective lives. When their friend Billy, an entrepreneur who lives in California, proposes to his 31-year-old girlfriend, Lisa, his friends plan a trip to Vegas for his bachelor party.

The four friends check into the Aria Resort and Casino. While Paddy and Sam go off, Archie buys uses half of his pension fund to buy $15,000 of chips and heads to the blackjack table. When they return, Archie is up to $102,000 and the trio leave so as to avoid being accused of card counting.

Paddy, who’s trying to get over the loss of his wife, Sophie, a year previous, takes issue with the fact that Billy didn’t show up to the funeral. As it turns out, both Paddy and Billy were in love with Sophie and while she chose Billy, he told her that she was meant to be with Paddy.

In Vegas, the friends meet lounge singer Diana, who both Paddy and Billy take an interest in. After discovering that Sophie originally chose Billy, Paddy tells Lisa that Billy is calling off the wedding. With his wedding called off, the friends encourage Billy to go and see Diana. A couple of months later, Paddy and Archie receive a call from Billy and Diana to tell them they’re engaged. Sam doesn’t answer the call as he is busy with his wife.

Friends

Friends lasted for 10 seasons, but it was in the fifth season that we saw the six friends travel to Las Vegas. Joey travels to Sin City to film a movie; however, when the movie producer tells Joey there isn’t enough cash to fund it, he’s forced to become a Roman soldier at Caesars Palace.

Chandler, Monica and Phoebe take a trip to visit Joey, but on the flight over, Phoebe accidentally reveals to Chandler that Monica met up with her ex-boyfriend Richard. Following an argument, Chandler goes off, Monica goes to apologise and tell him she loves him, but gets drawn into a game of craps and begins a winning streak.

When Chandler sees Monica playing craps at a table, he packs his bag and intends to leave. When he passes the craps table again, Monica sees him with his bag and talks him out of leaving. He joins the craps table and Monica’s winning streak continues. Chandler then suggests that if she rolls an eight, the two should get married. The first die lands on four, while the second lands on the ground next to the table leg between four and five. The pair decide that it is a four.

They arrive at the chapel only to discover that Ross and Rachel, who had arrived on a later flight, had gotten drunk and ended up getting married at the chapel, leaving Monica and Chandler stunned.

CINEMATIC HOLIDAY CLASSIC IN ICE!

“A Christmas Story” has been a staple of holiday movie lists for years, but now guests can experience this holiday favorite in a whole new way inside ICE! presented by DEI. The hilarious family tale will come to life through hand-carved ice sculptures and displays, inviting guests to relive the film’s iconic scenes such as The Old Man’s Major Award, Aunt Clara’s pink nightmare and the ultimate triple dog dare at the school’s flagpole, and many more!

The ICE! attraction is crafted by artisans from Harbin, China, home of the world’s largest ice and snow sculpture festival, who travel more than 6,000 miles to hand-carve more than two million pounds of colorful ice, creating larger-than-life sculptures. This year, as guests explore the nine-degree attraction, they will discover more than a dozen fan-favorite scenes from “A Christmas Story,” along with the event’s two-story ice slides and the popular Frostbite Factory live ice carving showcase. The ICE! experience concludes with a separate area dedicated to a traditional Nativity created with crystal clear ice.

NEW EXPERIENCES

Award-winning buffet restaurant Villa de Flora will welcome special Christmastime friends during The Elf on the Shelf® Character Breakfast, where guests can join Santa’sOfficial Scout Elves for a fun and festive character breakfast. Kids and adults will enjoy a delicious buffet spread complete with classic breakfast favorites and live cooking stations, enjoying  special visits from Santa’s Official Scout Elves as they dine.

Gaylord Palms’ St. Augustine atrium will be home to a brand-new, dazzling light show when Dreams of Christmas makes its debut. This multisensory experience will feature a new musical score accompanied with millions of dancing, choreographed lights all around the resort’s six-story Christmas tree during nightly shows.

HOLIDAY FAVORITES RETURN

“Holiday thrills” take on a whole new meaning during Cirque Dreams Unwrapped, a 25-minute, action-packed experience, featuring soaring acrobatics, theatricality and imagination that will have guests on the edge of their seats. Cirque Dreams Unwrapped features new acts and performers each year to bring to life a magical and timeless Christmas wonderland, all imagined by Broadway director and renowned Cirque Dreams founder Neil Goldberg.

Guests exploring the meandering paths inside the resort’s Everglades atrium will find the Christmas Tree Trail, a display of nine magnificent trees provided by Balsam Hill. Sparkle the Elf, Santa’s chief Christmas Tree Decorator, has personally prepared these for display at Gaylord Palms. From snowmen and candy canes to reindeer and nutcrackers, each tree represents one of Sparkle’s favorite things about Christmas, with one even honoring the Florida-themed resort!

The immersive, interactive Reindeer Express Post Office returns this year, where everyone is invited to jot down their top Christmas wishes on a postcard before entering this special facility to launch their wishes off on a journey to Santa.

Festive Alpine Village will again be the central hub for holiday happenings. In addition to ICE!, the village is home to various attractions and shows, Photos with Santa, seasonal food and beverage options plus holiday retail locations, including a Build-A-Bear Workshop®, where imaginations soar. Orlando Harley-Davidson Becomes Newest Exhibitor of Second Annual Event

IRVINE, Calif. (September 18, 2014) – The American International Motorcycle Expo (AIMExpo) announced today that the Harley-Davidson Demo Fleet will be featured at the 2014 event, offering test rides of the legendary company’s 2015 models. Additionally,Orlando Harley-Davidson becomes the newest exhibitor to join AIMExpo, which will host nearly 500 powersports companies from around the world October 16-19 at Orlando’s Orange County Convention Center (OCCC).

The presence of the Harley-Davidson brand at AIMExpo for the first time adds to the growing excitement surrounding the 2014 event, now less than a month away. This fall, Universal Orlando Resort and Universal Studios Hollywood are joining forces with AMC’s “The Walking Dead” for their Halloween Horror Nights events. Visitors to both theme parks will be able to experience the horror of AMC’s blockbuster original series, “The Walking Dead,” in elaborately themed, haunted mazes. It marks the first-time Universal Studios has featured a television series at Halloween Horror Nights on both coasts.

The Golden Globe-nominated, Emmy Award-winning, series “The Walking Dead” is based on the comic book written by Robert Kirkman and published by Image Comics. The series tells the story of the months and years that follow after a zombie apocalypse. It follows a group of survivors, led by police officer Rick Grimes, who travel in search of a safe and secure home. “The Walking Dead” is the number-one drama series in basic cable history for adults 18-49 and adults 25-54.

Universal Studios’ Halloween creative teams are working with AMC and “The Walking Dead,” to create an authentic experience that is true to the Emmy Award-winning hit series. The haunted mazes on both coasts feature eerily authentic, elaborately designed, movie-quality sets that include some of the most iconic locations and scenes from the show. Mobs of undead walkers bring to “life” the vicious, hungry, zombies from the show.

GWAR’s Oderus Urungus Featured on FEARnet’s “Holliston”

GWAR front man and lead throat thing Oderus Urungus has just been confirmed to be a featured cast member on FEARnet’s first original series “Holliston”.  Oderus Urungus joins Twisted Sister’s Dee Snider as well as stars Adam Green and Joe Lynch on the offbeat multi-camera buddy comedy series created by Green.  Described as The Big Bang Theory meets Evil Dead II, the show is set in the town of Holliston, Mass., and follows the lives of Adam (Green) and Joe (Lynch), two friends chasing the dream of becoming successful horror movie filmmakers while struggling to make ends meet in their post-college jobs at a Boston cable access station where they also host a late-night movie program called The Movie Crypt. Urungus will play himself and is Adam’s “imaginary” friend who happens to live in a closet and gives him advice that is extremely misguided and offensive. The six-episode series is slated to begin production in September.

“I am pleased beyond belief that the human race, and FEARnet, has finally recognized my acting ability and hired me as the star of Holliston,” said Oderus, apparently unaware that he is playing a supporting role. “With Dee Snider on the cast, it’s essential to have somebody that brings class to the proceedings…that class is me.”
