MovieMikes’ “$#*! My Dad Says” Interview Series

In case you do not know “$#*! My Dad Says” started as a Twitter feed authored by Justin Halpern and it just consisted of quotes made by his father, Sam. Luckily, CBS was the first studio to produce a show based on a twitter feed and today we have one of the funniest shows new show on television.

The show stars William Shatner as Ed Goodson, Jonathan Sadowski as his son Henry, Will Sasso plays his other son, Vince and Nicole Sullivan plays Vince’s wife Bonnie. Ever since the pilot, the show has improved with each episode and that is rare for a show definitely a first year show.

Movie Mikes has been able to interview this show’s fantastic cast. You can check out the interviews below.  If you have not checked out this show, support it and let’s keep our fingers crossed for season two!!

$#*! MY DAD SAYS CAST INTERVIEWS:

Jonathan Sadowski

Official premise for show via Wikipedia:
“Ed is a very opinionated 72-year-old who has been divorced three times. His two adult sons, Henry and Vince, are accustomed to his unsolicited and often politically incorrect rants. When Henry, a struggling writer and blogger, can no longer afford his rent, he is forced to move back in with Ed, which creates new issues in their tricky father-son relationship. As weeks go by Henry is unable to find a job as a writer, mostly due to the lack of good material. He finally lands a job, when during his interview Ed interrupts with an irrational phone call that sparks the interest of the eccentric editor conducting the interview. Henry is ultimately hired, but is forced to continue living with Ed in order to be able to continue to write about his father’s unsolicited rants, hence the title “$#*! My Dad Says”.”

“Men of a Certain Age” Interview Series

To mark the premiere of the second season of “Men of a Certain Age” on TNT, which airs Monday at 10pm. Our 3 friends in their late 40s, Terry, Owen, and Joe, very realistically and inspiringly played by Scott Bakula, Andre Braugher, and Ray Romano, test the bonds of their friendship as life continues to lob grenades in their paths.

This season it looks like Owen hires the perpetually underemployed Terry and they drive each other nuts. Joe continues to explore his newly single lifestyle while attempting to maintain a healthy relationship with his kids, including his daughter Lucy, played by Brittany Curran. Although this isn’t an outright comedy, there are comedic moments throughout the real-life interactions brought to us by the entire cast. You don’t have to be 40+ years old to enjoy this show, you just have to be a fan of great writing and acting. “Men of a Certain Age” airs at 10pm on TNT.

Movie Mikes had a chance to interview some of the cast from the show. Check out the interview below and enjoy. More interviews will be added shortly throughout the coming weeks.

MEN OF A CERTAIN AGE INTERVIEWS:

MovieMikes’ “Skyline” Interview Series

In case you haven’t heard of “Skyline”, it is a new alien invasion movie and is in theaters now. The film was completely financed by Colin and Greg Strause without the assistance of any major studio. The film has a budget around only $10 million dollars and was almost entirely filmed at co-director Greg Strause’s condo building in Marina Del Rey, CA. It looks like a $100+ million dollar movie, taking a page from films like “Cloverfield” and ” District 9″. The film started off as a test trailer which was shot Thanksgiving 2009, and it is already hitting the screen less than a year later. There is about 1,000 VFX shots in the film, which more than most big budget franchise tent poles.

Here is the premise for the film:
Strange lights descend on the city of Los Angeles, drawing people outside like moths to a flame where an extraterrestrial force threatens to swallow the entire human population off the face of the Earth.
Movie Mikes was able to score some interview with the cast and crew from “Skyline”.

MovieMikes’ “The Walking Dead” Interview Series

“The Walking Dead’ is based on Robert Kirkman’s hugely successful and popular comic book series. AMC’s new original series, “The Walking Dead”, premieres with a 90-minute episode on Halloween night: Oct. 31 at 10/9c. Written and executive produced by three-time Academy Award-nominee Frank Darabont (“The Shawshank Redemption”, “The Green Mile”), who also directs the pilot. The show is an epic, edge-of-your-seat drama where personal struggles are magnified against a backdrop of moment-to-moment survival. It follows County Sheriff Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) waking up in an empty hospital after weeks in a coma, finds himself utterly alone. The world as he knows it is gone, ravaged by a zombie epidemic. “The Walking Dead” tells the story of the weeks and months that follow after the apocalypse.

Movie Mikes have complied our biggest cast/crew interview series to date for “The Walking Dead”.  Since the show aired on Oct.31st, 2010, it has become AMC highest rating series.  Season two plans were put into full swing just after its premiere and is set for October 2011.

*UPDATE* 3-7-11 – We will be adding interviews with Andrew Lincoln & Melissa Suzanne McBride

"Monsters" Interviews Series with Gareth Edwards, Jon Hopkins, Scoot McNairy & Whitney Able

October is usually swarmed by horror/sci-fi genre movies, some are good…most are not. This October, we have had the following genre films released, “Case 39”, “My Soul to Take” and “Let Me In”…so far all disappointing. We only have “Paranormal Activity 2” and “Saw 3D” to finish off the month, expectations are weary. Luckily for us “Monsters” is also being released. It is a micro-budgeted film from first time director and visual effects artist Gareth Edwards…and it kicks ass!

“Monsters” is easily one of the best films I have seen this fall – Click here to read my review.  Movie Mikes has had the chance to interview the cast and crew from the film.

MONSTERS INTERVIEWS:

This film is following the footsteps of other low budget sci-fi films like “Cloverfield” and the upcoming “Skyline”, very small budget but high production value. The film was made for around $100,000 dollars and with another $400,000 spent in post production. The film itself has computer graphic effects that could easily pass for a multi-million dollar film.

The cast in the film features actually real life husband and wife, Scoot McNairy and Whitney Able. Their chemistry in the film is so fantastic and you find yourself memorized watching these characters. Jon Hopkins composed and performed the score for the film, which is so fantastic. Jon’s music sets the mood for the whole film and really makes the film move well. I cannot wait until they release the score on iTunes, it is a must buy for movie score fans!

The film is set for US release on October 29, 2010. Make sure you go out and support the film and all independent movies. Check out the trailer below for those who are not familiar with this gem.

MovieMikes’ "Hatchet II" Interviews

*UPDATE* 10-14-10

We have a new entry to our “Hatchet II” interviews. Movie Mikes was able to chat with Tom Holland, who plays the role of Bob in the film. This actually marks Tom’s first acting role in a film since 1982 (despite cameos). Thanks to Robert Galluzzo, director of the amazing documentary “The Psycho Legacy” for making this happen!

Like always, Movie Mikes love their horror films. With October now started, this month is sure to be packed solid with horror flicks. This week Adam Green is releasing “Hatchet II” which is a follow-up to his already cult classic “Hatchet”. Being a fan of the first “Hatchet. I was really excited to have seen the follow-up. Thanks to Adam Green the film was actually in fact better than the first unlike most slasher sequels. Movie Mikes was lucky enough to be able to interview the director Adam Green and the star of “Hatchet”  Kane Hodder, who plays the new horror icon Victor Crowley.

Enjoy and please leave comments!
