Ever since I saw “Don’t Be a Menace to South Central While Drinking Your Juice”, I have been a fan of Marlon Mayans. And who doesn’t love “Scary Movie”? With found-footage films taking over Hollywood in recent years thanks to “Paranormal Activity”, it paved the way for this latest parody from Wayans. This film does parody but plays out more like a film that a bunch of stupid skits. The film also co-stars the very funny Cedric the Entertainer, Essence Atkins, Nick Swardson and David Koechner. They all give some great performances each with some great laugh of loud moments. Overall, I really enjoyed this film and it was filled with some great laughs. Can’t wait for next winter for “A Haunted House 2”. Bring it!

Official synopsis: When overactive man-child Malcolm (Marlon Wayans) takes the plunge and lets girlfriend Keisha (Essence Atkins) move into his house, he quickly senses they’re no longer alone. Videotaping a series of paranormal events, Malcolm is shocked to discover the love of his life carries more than your average relationship baggage: she’s possessed by an evil spirit. Malcolm enlists the help of priest/ex-convict Father Williams (Cedric the Entertainer) to exorcise the demon from his girlfriend before it ruins his relationship… and his sex life.

Universal has release yet another impressive release. “A Haunted House” comes as a Two-Disc Combo Pack: Blu-ray + DVD + Digital Copy + UltraViolet. Universal never cuts corners with giving their viewers options and always comes through with great releases like this one. The film is low budget yet the 1080p transfer really looks sharp and clear. The DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 track also delivers for the laughs and lands the jokes well. The worst part of this release is the special features or features, I should say. There is only one short extra called “How to Survive a Paranormal Presence”. I would have figured a production like this would have been able to drum up a ton of great extras. I mean not even a blooper reel?

There has been countless programs about WWII over the years and thanks to The History Channel they have been behind most of these. I am a sucker for these programs and a downright History buff. When I heard about viewing the events of “WWII from Space”, I have to admit I was extremely interested. I mean who isn’t curious about anything to do with space. Of course, there is nothing new here in terms of content but this special does feature some really stunning CGI mixed with historical facts, which gives us a interest look into America’s part in World War II from a new angle. A must for all History buffs.

Official Premise: WWII FROM SPACE delivers World War II in a way you’ve never experienced it before. This two-hour HISTORY special uses an all-seeing CGI eye that offers a satellite view of the conflict, allowing you to experience it in a way that places key events and tipping points in a global perspective. By re-creating groundbreaking moments that could never have been captured on camera and by illustrating the importance of simultaneity and the hidden effects of crucial incidents, HISTORY presents the war’s monumental moments in never- before-seen context. And with new information brought to the forefront, you’ll better understand how a nation ranked 19th in the world’s militaries in 1939 emerged six years later as the planet’s only atomic superpower.

History Channel delivers nothing but a stunning Blu-ray release. The 1080p transfer with an aspect ratio of 1.78:1 is very sharp. This works very well with the CGI effects, I would have loved to seen them release them in 3D as they have done with some specials. I have a feeling that this could have made this even cooler. The DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 track is also very impressive. It features a stronger narrative and a powerful score. There are no additional special features included with this release, but that is typical with specials like this.

The minute I gave this DVD to my 11 month daughter, she put smiled ear to ear and put it right in her mouth. So in baby terms that is as good as you can get. Whenever she sees this show on she stops whatever she is doing and just stars and jumps up and down. We watched this DVD multiple times on loop over the weekend and we just can’t seem to get enough of this show. Doc McStuffins is a fantastic show from Disney Junior. It is cute, teaches great lessons for kids and packs some fun and catchy music as well. It even has daddy singing along and waking up with it in my head :-). I know this release is going to be re-watched quite a bit and I can’t wait to see new releases for this show. The Doc is in!

The episodes included are: 1. “Gulpy, Gulpy Gators!/ One Note Wonder, 2. “Tea Party Tantrum/ Blast Off!”, 3. “Arcade Escapade/ Starry, Starry Night”, 4. “Bronto Boo-Boos/ Brontosaurus Breath” and 5. “Doctoring The Doc/ Hot Pursuit”. Personally, I am a fan of “”Gulpy, Gulpy Gators!”, as it brings back childhood memories for myself with “Hungry Hungry Hippos”. Along with the episodes, there is also an activity growth cart and stickers included for all your little inspiring doctors to enjoy.

“Fraggle Rock” has always been one of my favorite shows growing up. It also had one of my favorite theme songs from the 80’s, I still have a vinyl record from the show. This release is a great show to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Jim Hensen’s classic children series. The series originally aired from 1983 to 1987 and still captures the hearts of its fans today. Watching this show again just makes me yearn for more shows like this again. I am looking forward to showing this show with my daughter as she grows up. Gaiam Vivendi Entertainment is also releasing “Fraggle Rock: The Complete Series Collection” on DVD. Hardcore fans should definitely check that out.

The episodes included are: “Beginnings”, “We Love You Wembley”, “Boober’s Dream”, “Red’s Club”, “Mokey and the Minstrels”, “Gobo’s Discovery”. These episodes good look a little aged. I do not feel that much work went into restoring these episodes for their 30th anniversary. They are still fun to watch and relive your childhood and for those that are not too familiar with this series, this is a great way to introduce “Fraggle Rock” to a new generation of fans. Besides the episodes, there are no special features included on this DVD.

I understand that “The Walking Dead” has made zombie’s hot again but can’t we come up with a new idea here.  Why does everyone have to mess with George A. Romero’s “Night of the Living Dead”. If you are going to deliver a “Brand new take on the horror classic”, then I suggest you actually have seen the original film first. I have seen hundreds of rip-offs, remakes or related zombie films and yet I have never seen a more boring and poorly made film as “Night of the Living Dead: Resurrection”.  I was literally twiddling my thumbs. The zombies are terrible and laughable.  All around I won’t be recommending this to any Romero or horror fans and I will burning this DVD after this review.

Official Synopsis: Based on George A. Romero’s classic “Night of the Living Dead”. In 2012 the deceased have risen from their graves once again with the instinct to feed on the living. As academics speculate on the scientific cause of this phenomenon theologians point to the Armageddon foretold in the Book of Revelation. As the cities are overrun and civilization crumbles a family takes refuge from the undead army in an isolated farmhouse in West Wales. But the greatest threat is already among them as they fight to stay alive.

“Night of the Living Dead: Resurrection” is only being released on DVD and I understand why.  The transfer on the film looks like it was shot on a broken iPhone.  It is blurry and out of focus in various parts. The transfer is in widescreen with an aspect ratio of 2.35:1. The 5.1 Dolby Digital audio track is nothing special. The film features barely any underscore, which only adds to the the film dragging. There is no suspense added at all.  The special features are nothing special either.  There is a cast and crew commentary track, which I wouldn’t recommend unless you love the film.  There is also a trailer gallery included. Terrible extras for a terrible movie. You’ve been warned.  Don’t let the title of  “Night of the Living Dead” draw you in.

When “Fullmetal Alchemist” ended its original series run in 2004, I was left wanting much more. Then shortly after in 2005 “Fullmetal Alchemist- The Movie: Conqueror of Shamballa” was released and delivered a good ending to the show. But that wasn’t the last we saw of this series, in 2009 “Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood” started. This series, unlike the first anime which had an original story, follows the story of the manga series. So it is not a sequel or prequel. It is a new series. FUNimation is behind this release and is bringing this fantastic series to Blu-ray in two collections. “Collection One” contains episodes 1-33 and “Collection Two” finishes out the series with episodes 34-64. If you are a fan of “Fullmetal Alchemist” this is a fantastic series that even rivals the original…there I said it. I love originals series but if you read the animes, it is even cooler to see the stories come to life.

Collection One Official Premise: Edward and Alphonse Elric’s reckless disregard for alchemy’s fundamental laws ripped half of Ed’s limbs from his body and left Al’s soul clinging to a cold suit of armor. FUNimation (like usual) really gave “Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood” a wonderful presentation. The 1080p transfer for each episode is near perfect and very impressive within its 1.78:1 aspect ratio. The colors are extremely vibrant and sharp. The line detail is also notable and transfers well onto the screen in high-def. These series on both collection are presented with the show’s original Japanese language and also an English dub. The Japanese audio only includes a Dolby True HD 2.0 track, while the English dub gets a more meaty Dolby True HD 5.1 track. I am usually gung ho for the original language track but I have to go with the English track for this series. I just love the voice actors and top that with a better audio track and it easily wins me over.

The special features may not be the greatest in terms of featurettes but there is sure a nice collection of audio commentary tracks for various episodes. Collection one contains audio commentaries on episodes 1, 10, 14, 23, 28. Collection two contains audio commentaries on episodes 36, 40, 46 and 64. The commentaries are focuses on key episodes and are a must for die-hard fans! Both Collection one and two have textless opening songs – “again”, “Hologram”, “Golden Time Lover” and textless closing songs – “Let it Out”, “ISO”, “Tsimaoda Te”. Collection two includes some outtakes, which are also fun and worth checking out. Lastly wrapping up the extras are trailers included on both collections.

If you are not familiar with “Koala Kid”, that may be cause it was made in South Korea and was released outside of the U.S. under the title “The Outback”. This DVD is available exclusively from Walmart & Walmart.com. I have to say I actually highly recommend it for kids. It is very cute and colorful. It is packs a fantastic voice cast, which includes Rob Schneider, Alan Cumming and Tim Curry. It also stars but doesn’t showcase one of my favorites, Brett McKenzie. I assume that kids wouldn’t know who he is but he is the man behind the music in 2011’s “The Muppets” and also won an Oscar for Best Song. Kids are going to love this song, especially the musical number “Down Under”, this film is a hit.

Official Premise: Journey down under and meet a whole new breed of hero in this laugh-filled, action-packed animated adventure with an all-star voice cast, including Rob Schneider, Tim Curry and Alan Cumming. Johnny (Schneider) is a rare white koala bear who just wants to fit in and make friends. But when a twist of fate mistakenly transforms him into a fearless protector of animals, called “Koala Kid,” Johnny finds himself in over his head on a thrilling trek across the outback. With help from his hilarious new sidekicks, including a crafty Tasmanian devil, a lovable lizard and a boomerang-flinging female koala, Johnny may just outwit a villainous crocodile named Bog (Cumming) and become a true hero after all.

Like many of the recent CGI animated films to come from outside the U.S., “Koala Kid” was made and released in 3D. This film was fun but it was really made to be watched in 3D and really takes advantage of that format. I would have loved to seen a 3D Blu-ray for this film, which is only available in Germany right now. The DVD still looks sharp but a Blu-ray would have been better. The special features included might not be much for an adult but it is sure to keep kids busy for a while. There is a “Koala Kid Adventure Map” for them to explore and play with. There is a also a fun sing-along for the some “Down Under”. Your kids will be up on their feet and dancing around with this track for sure.

“Superman: Unbound” is the latest in the line of DCU Animated Original Movies. This film is based on Geoff Johns/Gary Frank’s kick ass graphic novel “Superman: Brainiac” from 2008. This film includes the fantastic voice talents of Matt Bomer (“White Collar”) as Superman and John Noble (“Fringe”) as the villainous Brainiac. I am also a HUGE fan of ABC’s hit series “Castle” and we get a nice little reunion here with Stana Katic as Lois Lane and Molly Quinn as Supergirl. The action is epic and the story is well done thanks to a stellar script form Bob Goodman (“Batman: The Dark Knight Returns). Brainiac is one hell of a kick ass villain and he really gets his day to shine here. My only complaint is that I wished it was longer than 75 minutes. Be sure to stay through the first half of the credits 😉 But still another fine fine installment from Warner’s DCU Animated division for sure. Next up for them is “Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox”, which drops on July 30th. If you are a Superman fan and counting down the days (like myself) till “Man of Steel” next month, this is a great way to get your fix. Can’t wait!

Official Premise: Based on the Geoff Johns/Gary Frank 2008 release “Superman: Brainiac,” Superman: Unbound” finds the Man of Steel aptly handling day-to-day crime while helping acclimate Supergirl to Earth’s customs and managing Lois Lane’s expectations for their relationship. Personal issues take a back seat when the horrific force responsible for the destruction of Krypton – Brainiac – begins his descent upon Earth. Brainiac has crossed the universe, collecting cities from interesting planets – including Supergirl’s home city of Kandor – and now the all-knowing, ever-improving android has his sights fixed on Metropolis. Superman must summon all of his physical and intellectual resources to protect his city, the love of his life and his newly-arrived cousin.

Warner delivered a very impressive Blu-ray/DVD/UltraViolet Combo Pack. They covered all the options like they usually do. I already see a repeat viewing of this film in the coming weeks, most likely with the UltraViolet digital streaming copy. The 1080p transfer is flawless and the animation really shines alongside it. The DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 track also delivers the action very well and compliments this fine voice cast. The special features are ace and include over four and half hours of content. There are two great featurettes included. The first, “Kandor: History of the Bottle City”, which gives nice background on the shrunken city. Next is “Brainiac: Technology and Terror”, which looks into the villain and his story. There is an audio commentary with Mike Carlin, Bob Goodman and James Tucker, which is worth a listen for hardcore DC fans. There is a short digital comic excerpt from the original graphic novel “Superman: Brainiac” by Geoff Johns and Gary Frank. I would have loved to this complete. Lastly and my favorite is four bonus episodes from “Superman: The Animated Series” including “The Last Son of Krypton, Part 1”; “New Kids in Town”; and “Little Girl Lost, Parts 1 & 2”, which were all picked by producer Alan Burnett.

It has been a while since Cheech & Chong released a movie together, in fact it was “Cheech & Chong’s The Corsican Brothers” back in 1984.  I am not sure if you can consider this really a new film from the legendary stoners, since it is really just new animation behind the duo classic skits from their records like “Let’s Make a Dope Deal”, “Sister Mary Elephant” and “Dave’s not here”. I enjoyed seeing some visual behind these skits but it this is not really a movie. It is just separate animated skits put together in a movie form. I don’t blame them for trying since the skits are already there and the animation is very cheaply done. I am sure that there are a lot of stoners out there though will enjoy this but I feel that until you are on a high, this film is a major drag, man. I am down if the duo does an “Up in Smoke 2” finally though!

The 1080p transfer for this Blu-ray looks clear but the animation really doesn’t deliver the good.  This type of low-budget animation is becoming quite popular but I am really not a fan. The DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 audio track works for the jokes and the few songs but nothing amazing either. The best part of this release is the special features.  There are three commentary tracks. The first includes both Cheech Marin and Tommy Chong, which is a blast and a must listen. The next is with the directors Branden Chambers and Eric D. Chambers and producer Lou Adler. It doesn’t flow as good as the duo but worth checking out. The last one is with Tommy Chong and Paris Chong, which is def for fans. The rest of the extras are an “Low Maintenance Listening Mode”, stoners will appreciate.  “Medical Marijuana Blues” Blind Mellon’s Recording Session is a riot and lastly there is a Cheech and Chong Gallery.

Who doesn’t love Mel Brooks? He has delivers some of the best comedy in the business over the last 60 years.  Whether it is film, TV, music or Broadway.  The man has done it all.  This latest American Masters program takes a look at Mel Brooks’ career in “Make a Noise”.  I grew up watching his films from “History of the World, Part 1” to “Blazing Saddles” to The Producers” and “Young Frankenstein”. This type of comedy always hit home with me and still has as I have grown up. I look forward to sharing these wonderful films with my daughter now as she grows.  They are timeless and will remain that way through time. This program was a great look into Mel Brooks, whether you know everything about him or are just meeting him for the first time.  There is a little something for everyone.

Official Premise: After 60 years in show business, Mel Brooks has earned more major awards than any other living entertainer; he is one of 14 EGOT (Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony) winners. Yet, the comedy giant has energetically avoided a documentary profile from being made, even issuing an informal gag order on his friends – until now. Brooks has agreed to throw himself into a new documentary about his storied career, giving American Masters exclusive interviews and complete access to his film archives.

In the film we get taken through Mel’s life starting from his childhood growing up in Brooklyn to his start in the buisness to his marriage of Anne Bancroft to his Broadway career. There are new interviews with Mel Brooks, Matthew Broderick, Nathan Lane, Cloris Leachman, Carl Reiner and Joan Rivers. These are people who know Mel and that have worked wiht him. They give wonderful insight into his career and who the real “Mel Brooks” is.  The program runs 90 minutes but I could have watch for at least 3 hours without becoming boring or repetitive.  The guy has done so much there is no way to sum it up in just 90 minutes.  The bonus feature included on this DVD is over 15 minutes of deleted segments.

I am not a fan of sports films at all. When I first heard about this film, I thought that’s what it was but was I wrong. David O. Russell’s last film was “The Fighter” with Christian Bale and Mark Wahlberg, which I was not a fan of at all despite Bale’s amazing performance. So I was very hesitant seeing this film at first. I have to say after watch it one…twice…three times…it easily became one of my favorite films of last year. The performances in the film are absolutely stunning. I do not think I even spoke a word during my first viewing because I was blown away. When I think about Bradley Cooper, I do not think that he has this kind of a role in him but he was so amazing. Also before this film I was not a fan at all of Jennifer Lawrence, especially after the horrid “The Hunger Games” but she is now on my fav list. She was stunning in this film and really deserves the Academy Award that she won.

Besides the main two, the supporting cast is also amazing. Robert De Niro really gives one of his best performances in recent years. Probably one of the biggest surprises was from Chris Tucker, that’s right the say guy from “Rush Hour” series. He only had a small appearance but was very effective and memorable. David O. Russell does another wonderful job directing this film and adapting the script from the novel by Matthew Quick. He has this fantastic vision and really delivers it well to the screen. This film might seem like a light romantic comedy but it deals with some very heavy issues and at the drop of the hat just like the bipolar disorder it switches from genre to genre. That is why I absolutely loved this film it is very unpredictable and keeps you on your toes. If you haven’t seen this…don’t miss it.

Official Premise: Life doesn’t always go according to plan. Pat Solatano (Bradley Cooper) has lost everything — his house, his job, and his wife. He now finds himself living back with his mother (Jacki Weaver) and father (Robert DeNiro) after spending eight months is a state institution on a plea bargain. Pat is determined to rebuild his life, remain positive and reunite with his wife, despite the challenging circumstances of their separation. All Pat’s parents want is for him to get back on his feet-and to share their family’s obsession with the Philadelphia Eagles football team. When Pat meets Tiffany (Jennifer Lawrence), a mysterious girl with problems of her own, things get complicated. Tiffany offers to help Pat reconnect with his wife, but only if he’ll do something very important for her in return. As their deal plays out, an unexpected bond begins to form between them, and silver linings appear in both of their lives.

Starz / Anchor Bay delivered a very impressive combo pack release. We get both a Blu-ray and DVD disc copy of the film. There are also two digital copies including Ultraviolet and iTunes. I always prefer Ultraviolet, since it doesn’t take up space on your handheld devices and can be accessed anytime. The 1080p transfer is beautifully presented with an aspect ratio of 2.40:1. The cinematography in the film is so well-done including the handheld camera work, which I am usually not a fan of. The DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 works very well with the snappy dialogue and the music, especially the big dance scene.

The special features are quite impressive on this Blu-ray release. There are nearly 30 minutes of deleted scenes included, which are quite impressive and a must watch for any fans of the film. “Silver Linings Playbook: The Film that Became a Movement” is a great feature on the production with interviews from cast and crew. “Q&A Highlights” are complied of various sessions with Russell, De Niro, Cooper, Lawrence and more. “Learn to Dance Like Pat and Tiffany” is a great ‘learn how’ feature with choreographer Mandy Moore on the moves seen in the film. The last two features are short but still fun. “Dance Rehearsal” has the duo showing us a few of their moves but runs under two minutes. Lastly, “Going Steadicam with Bradley Cooper” is a joke feature with Cooper taking the camera for less than a minute. Overall great extras, except the only let down is that there are no commentary tracks. I would have love to seen cast and crew giving their insight on the production.

Before this film was released, I had never heard of this ass-kicking ex-Army anti-hero created by Best-Selling Author Lee Child, Jack Reacher. Tom Cruise takes on this title role and really nails the role. I have to say I came into this film expecting a crazy action film like in “Mission Impossible”, but I was really surprised with what I got. This is a real slow-burn detective story mixed with some great action and one hell of a car chase scene. Besides Cruise, the rest of the cast is also phenomenal including Rosamund Pike (“Wrath of the Titans”); Werner Herzog (“Rescue Dawn”), who is usually behind the camera directing but he is quite a stunning villain; David Oyelowo (“Rise of the Planet of the Apes”); Richard Jenkins (“The Cabin in the Woods”) and Jai Courtney (“A Good Day to Die Hard”). If you like Cruise then you should enjoy this for sure. Just don’t expect an all out action-fest. I would love to see this series continued in further installment but I have a feeling that this will be Jack Reacher’s first and last go.

Official Premise: Adapted from a novel in Lee Child’s best-selling crime series, the film sees Cruise in the title role as an ex-military policeman turned vigilante drifter who is called in to investigate after an expert sniper takes the lives of five random victims. When the authorities pull in former army sniper, James Barr (Joseph Sikora), they are certain they have the perpetrator, but Barr believes he’s been set up and asks that Jack Reacher (Cruise) be assigned to the case. At first, Reacher is weary of Barr but after some thorough investigation he is led to believe there is an unseen force pulling the strings of the investigation and he’s determined to get to the truth.

Paramount really went through the trouble of delivering a very nice presentation with this Blu-ray/DVD combo pack. Also included is an UltraViolet digital streaming copy. The 1080p transfer is super sharp and top that with a very impressive (and unexpected) DTS-HD Master Audio 7.1 track. At first I thought that this wasn’t necessary but it really worked with the car chase scene and Joe Kraemer score. The special features are pretty darn good. There are two commentary tracks, the first with Tom Cruise, director Christopher McQuarrie and the second with composer Joe Kraemer. I am very impressed that Cruise lended his voice and it is worth checking out. “When the Man Comes Around” is a look into the film’s journey from the page to the screen. “You Do Not Mess with Jack Reacher: Combat & Weapons” focuses on that training and stunt choreography through the fight sequences. Lastly, “The Reacher Phenomenon” is a look into this series popularity around the world with Lee Child. Also included is a $10 off coupon for sports tickets at Ticketmaster and there is also a code for the first chapter of Lee Child’s next “Jack Reacher” novel “Never Go Back”. So if you are a fan of the series, this is a nice bonus!

I have been a fan of “The Ricky Gervais Show” when it aired on the UK radio station, XFM, over ten years ago.  Since then this show was been developed as a podcast, audio book and mostly recently an animated series.  When this animated series was announced I wasn’t particularly thrilled.  I originally thought that re-releasing the podcasts with new animations was a little lame, but I forgot how very funny all of these actually were. Ricky Gervais, Stephen Merchant and Karl Pilkington are very funny together.  This season contains the last 12 out of the 39 episodes produced. There has been talks about a fourth season, but was shelved last year from Gervais himself. If you are a fan of shows like “The Office”, “Extras” and “An Idiot Abroad” then this is sure to deliver some great laughs whether you are a fan of the podcasts or not.

Official Premise: Series 3 starts with an impossible mission as Karl pitches another movie idea and struggles in vain to relay the insane plot to Ricky and Steve. Over the following 12 episodes Karl offers fascinating insights into his family history, encounters with domestic insects and the dangers of wearing crash helmets. Challenged at every turn by Ricky and Steve, who entertain with their own priceless real-life exploits, Karl remains stoic and retains his bizarrely unique perspectives regardless. As things draw to a close. The tree imagine themselves in an old people’s home – still arguing over utter nonsense with the final word going to Ricky, appropriately enough.

This DVD release is being release by Warner Archive as a “made-to-order” DVD. I would love to see these seasons make their way to Blu-ray like in the UK but I have a feeling that this is the best that we are going to get. These episodes have been manufactured from the best-quality video master currently available and has not been remastered or restored for this release. The animation is simple yet still looks very good on this DVD presentation. They come with an aspect ratio of 1.78:1. The audio track included is a Dolby Digital track. The first and second season included a some great extras but this release is completely baron. The second season DVD was also “made-to-order” but it still contains some sweet extras. So I was left disappointed with this final season but at least it is available for fans.

I have loved “Childrens Hospital” ever since the first season but I feel that we are starting to part ways.  The fourth season of the show is definitely funny in parts but it doesn’t feel as unique that it has in past season. The show only runs 11 minutes per episode and I think that that works in its favor. The show packs a phenomenal cast including Rob Corddry, Rob Huebel, Malin Akerman, Erinn Hayes, Ken Marino, Megan Mullaly, Henry Winkler and Lake Bell. This season also had some wonderful guests starring including Jon Hamm, Dominic Monaghan, Nick Offerman, Frances Fisher and Brian Huskey. There is great talent here but maybe the show has run it course for me. “Childrens Hospital” has spawned two spin-offs shows. One of them is good,  “NTSF:SD:SUV::” and one of them not so good “Newsreaders”.

Official Premise: TV’s sickest medical series returns for its fourth twisted season, winner of the 2012 Emmy® Award for Outstanding Short-Format Live-Action Entertainment. A satirical jab at network medical dramas, Childrens Hospital explores the lives of a group of self-absorbed doctors who put their libidos first and patients second. Amnesia, Madonna sightings, single-mom promotions, assassination attempts, Mafia kingpins and the accidental electrocution of one of its stars are just some of the topics addressed.

I am assume that I am not the only one who feels this way either since this is the first season that is being produced only as an MOD or Made-to-order DVD. Warner Home Video’s past releases have been much higher quality.  They have come with nice cases with slipcases.  These episodes have been manufactured from the best-quality video master currently available and has not been remastered or restored for this release. They come with an aspect ratio of 1.78:1. The audio track included is a Dolby Digital track. Lastly there is also no special features included here.  The past DVD releases for Season 1 & 2 and Season 3 have had some great extras included. Overall this is a letdown from past releases but at least it is available for fans. And fans should keep an eye out for more episodes this Summer as the the series was renewed for a fifth season by Adult Swim.

When I first watched the third season of “Star Trek: The Next Generation”, I was blown away. “The Best of Both Worlds” was one of the best storylines to come out of this series. I saw it long after it was originally aired and I have known about this arc but it still shocking and holds up as one of the best cliffhangers on TV. Overall, the whole series in general really running on all cylinders and kicking ass. The cast and the writers are settled in their roles and really delivered their best performances. Also available the same day is “Star Trek: The Next Generation – The Best of Both Worlds” for the mega “Star Trek” fans who are looking for a new edit of that fantastic storyline into a new-feature format. This is another very impressive release from CBS Home Entertainment and Paramount. They have been giving this series nothing but love since they started releasing these seasons. If you love this series, then this release is a must-buy!

“Star Trek: The Next Generation – Season Three” delivers absolutely perfect 1080p transfers of each episodes. These episodes don’t just look good. They look stunning. Top that with a flawless DTS-HD Master Audio 7.1 track for each episode and Trek fans will be nothing but thrilled. I wonder what Gene Roddenberry would have thought if he could have seen his creation presented like this. Alternate audio tracks also include an English Stereo Surround, French Mono, Italian Mono, Castilian Mono, German Mono and Japanese Mono tracks. If you have seen these episodes on TV or DVD, this give you the show like you have never seen it before due to this fantastic restoration which involved returning to the original film elements.

The special features are quite impressive for this season. The newly produced high definition extras (found mostly on disc six) include an all-new featurette called “Inside The Writer’s Room”, which is moderated by Seth MacFarlane. He leads a panel and a great discussion on the creation of the show’s acclaimed third season with some of today’s best science fiction television writers including Ronald Moore, Brannon Braga, Naren Shankar and Rene Echevarria. There is an entirely new multi-part documentary called “Resistance is Futile – Assimilating Star Trek: The Next Generation”, which really dives into the behind-the-scenes on the making of Season Three. There is a very nice tribute to Michael Piller, which includes never-before-seen interviews with cast, crew and more discuss his lasting influence on the “Star Trek” franchise. Rounding out the high-def extras is a new gag reel for fans, which is located on disc five.

Additional extras included are spread out over the six discs. There are four “Archival Mission Logs” including “Selected Crew Analysis Year Three”, “Mission Overview Year Three”, “Departmental Briefing Year Three: Production” and “Departmental Briefing Year Three: Memorable Missions”. There are four all-new audio commentary track spread out on the release. Disc one features a commentary track from Ron Moore on “The Bonding”. Disc three features features a commentary track from Ron Moore and Ira Steven Behr on “Yesterday’s Enterprise”. Disc four features the last two audio commentary tracks. The first is with Rene Echevarria and Mike & Denise Okuda on “The Offspring” and the second is with Ron Moore on “Sins of the Father”. If you are looking for audio commentary on the episode “The Best of Both Worlds: Part 1”, you should check out the stand-one release mentioned above. Lastly, there are also episodic promos available for each of the 26 episodes.
