The Snake Sabo Baretta is the premier signature model from Skid Row’s Snake Sabo. Inspired by his favorite road guitar, the Snake Sabo Baretta features a replica graphic commissioned by Sabo and created by legendary KRAMER artist Dennis Kline. The Snake Sabo Baretta features a new Kramer 85-T™ Double Black Open Coil Humbucker™ that was designed by Gibson™ USA Luthier Jim DeCola, a K-SpeedSlimTaper™ neck with jumbo frets, a Floyd Rose® 1000 bridge system, and a EVH® D-Tuna® Drop D Tuning System.

The Tracii Guns Gunstar Voyager is ready to rock and marks the first KRAMER signature model for pioneering L.A. Guns guitarist. The Gunstar Voyager features a star-shaped mahogany Voyager body with a black metallic finish and flame graphics, a 3-piece set maple neck with a Slim C profile and a classic KRAMER pointy headstock with a Kramer Pyramid logo on the front and a chrome wrench holder on the back, two Epiphone™ ProBucker™ pickups, each with its own volume control and coil-splitting push / pull switch for broad tonal flexibility, and a Floyd Rose 1000 series tremolo and a top mounted R2 Locking Nut and Chrome string retainer bar.

This seems to be the year of “Pan’s Labyrinth” getting a resurgence. The film is celebrating it’s 10th anniversary (can’t believe that it has been that long already). This film has been one of my favorites and one of the best from Guillermo Del Toro. When it comes to a visual eye, he is the man to deliver and this film is overloading with beauty and style. “Guillermo del Toro’s Pan’s Labyrinth: Inside the Creation of a Modern Fairy Tale” gives us an exclusive look into the making of this wonderful modern marvel and does not disappoint. It also is stocked tight with a foreword by Guillermo Del Toro himself. I love his passion and it shows how much work and effort in each one of his films. This is a must owe book for any fan of “Pan’s Labyrinth”.

Event Review “The Rain Room” at The Museum of Modern Art

The line stretches through the lot and down the sidewalk, and it’s moving at a snail’s pace. As the hours go by and tempers rise, people begin to question if this is all worth it.

And then you walk inside.

And directly into a dream.

The first thing you sense when you finally enter the darkened space, is the sound. It’s the sound of falling water, and as you turn the corner, you are met with an arresting sight: a darkened room, lit with only a spotlight, and a large block of rain falling from the ceiling. The guard nods at you, and you slowly approach it, your nose now picking up on the smell of water. You tentatively reach a hand into the falling droplets, expecting to be drenched in seconds, and instead feel…nothing. There’s a dry area surrounding your outstretched hand- a type of force field that is keeping it dry. As you make a slow wave, the dry area follows you. You take a deep breath and step fully into the room. Miraculously, no water touches you, and you start to feel a sense of joy and of play. You can control the rain!

Rain Room (2012) is rAndom International’s installation art piece currently on exhibit at the Museum of Modern Art as part of the MoMA PS1 Exhibition (EXPO 1: New York). It is, in the simplest of terms, a literal room of rain. Hundreds of gallons of water are cycled through the room per minute, and 3D tracking cameras line the space, sensing its occupants and their movements, and repel the water from releasing up above them. It is best to move at a moderate pace- too fast, and the sensors are unable to keep up, and you will get wet. rAndom International’s founders, Stuart Wood, Florian Ortkrass, and Hannes Koch, have been reticent in revealing the specifics of how it all works, allowing it to continue to be a fantasy and mystery to those who experience it.

Perhaps the best thing about Rain Room is the audience interaction component. Every person will experience the room in their own way and will become part of an unexpected show of immersive meteorology, so the room is always changing. It challenges participants to go against their ingrained responses while experientially engaging four senses at the same time. There’s a feeling of romance, delight, and contemplation at being able to literally control the water falling around you.

Rain Room is located in the lot space directly next to the MoMA and is included in the regular ticket price. It is open daily during normal museum hours. Entry is limited to only ten people at a time. The exhibit runs until July 28th.

DVD Review "Rocko's Modern Life: The Complete Series"

I have to admit, I was a huge fan of “Rocko’s Modern Life” in the early/mid 90’s.  It went along well with Nickelodeon’s “Ren and Stimpy”, which I was also a big fan of.  It has been at least 15 years since I last saw “Rocko’s Modern Life” and it still holds up. This show has become a cult classic among fans since its original airing. There is really not many other show like this on television today, maybe besides “Adventure Time” or Regular Show”.  It is over-the-top, raunchy and very funny.  Sure maybe it is a packs a little bit of off-beat humor with some of the jokes but as an adult now, I am able to catch one to much more then when I was a kid.  Shout! Factory has been releasing the seasons individually over the years but this is the first time that the complete series is available to own on DVD.  It is well-worth the purchase if you are a fan of this show.

What more can you ask for here! This complete series comes with all four seasons of the show including 52 episodes! I am shocked to realize that there were only 52 episodes, I thought this show was on forever. This release also includes some fantastic original art by the show’s creator Joe Murray! The cover is a work of art, as is the inside insert, which is never usually given the time of day. You can tell that there was a lot of love that went into this release. Carlos Alazraqui, who was the voice of Rocko, Spunky and many more has since went on to notable roles like Deputy James Garcia in “Reno 911”. Tom Kenny who voiced Heffer Wolfe went on to voice, even to today, “Spongebob Squarepants”. The creator, Joel Murray, really has a certain vision for this show and maybe it was a little a head of its time but this show is a real hoot! Get it?! Joel also went on to work on similar looking shows with “Camp Lazlo” and “Frog in a Suit”.

This 8 disc set looks great for a show that is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year. The show aired from 1993-1996, so I am not sure why Shout! isn’t pushing the fact of the show’s anniversary. Either way, it has been a real pleasure revisiting this show after all these years and it does nothing short of entertaining. The episodes are presented in their original full screen presentation. I am not sure if Shout! Factory has done anything with these episodes but they look decent for a DVD release. 20 years has been kind to this show and it has never looks better. The colors are sharp and the audio track works well with the underscore and the Rocko screaming “SPUUUUUUNKY”.

This release from Shout! Factory comes with some very impressive special features specifically for this complete series. First up we have a “Wacky Kelly” Live 2012 with Joe Murray and the Cast. This extra is a riot and just shows that there are still so many fans of this great show out there still today. “Behind-The-Characters Shorts” is a fun look into the mind of our favorite characters from the show. Next up, there are some select scene commentary tracks throughout season three by the creator himself, Joe Murray. I highly recommend these! Lastly there is the original pilot version of “Trash-O-Madness” included on this release. If you are a fan of this series, you should be left very satisfied with this release. Heffer was right…it is a hoot!

NYCC 2012: Yakko’s Modern World?

Media Mikes was lucky enough to catch up with emmy-winning voice actor Rob Paulsen on the floor of NYCC this past Friday. Paulsen can currently be heard in Nickelodeon’s new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles as Donatello alongside Sean Astin’s Raphael. However he was equally ready to talk about one of his most iconic roles, Yakko Warner, of “Animaniacs”.

Children of the 90s will remember the impressive and catchy “Yakko’s World” in which Paulsen sang the names of the nations of the world. As political lines have shifted since 1993 when the song first aired, Paulsen revealed that he and the writer are hoping to be back to get an updated version recorded:

“I don’t know if I’m recording it for sure, Randy Rogel who wrote Yakko’s World–and all the other cool stuff on Animaniacs, by and large–told me a couple weeks ago that he updated Yakko’s World to reflect the Soviet Union no longer being around and all the ‘-stans’. Uzebekistan, Kazahkstan, Tajikastan…so yea, apparently there is a new, updated version of Yakko’s World and I hope that we can record it one day and release it!”

Great news! Now, all together, “Uuuunited States, Canada, Mexico, Panama…“
