Concert Review: Happy Together Tour – 2025

I was born in 1960.  So I’ve had the amazing opportunity of listening to music for almost seven decades.  And while I will always maintain that the 1970s was the best decade for film, you can’t compare any other decade to the 1960s when it comes to music.  Rock and roll.  Pop.  Soul.  We had it all together on the same radio station.  So when a band or performer from that decade comes to town I do my best to attend.  But when FIVE groups come to town, you cant keep me away.  This past Friday the latest version of the popular Happy Together Tour hit Kansas City and I was not disappointed.

The Cowsills (l-r) Susie, Paul, Bob.

Staring the show were the Cowsills, a band so popular in it’s day that they served as the inspiration for the popular television series, and recording act, the Partridge Family.  Brothers Paul and Bob, along with little sister Susie, had a great set, ending with a raucous audience sing-along of their huge hit “Hair.”  I also learned something new when they sang the theme from the television show “Love, American Style.”  I was today years old when I learned that they sang the song.

They were followed by the Vogues, whose harmonies on such hits as “Five O’clock World” and “Come a Little Bit Closer” were as pure as the day they were recorded.    Next up was the great Gary Puckett who, at age 82 still has a powerful voice.  Again, the audience joined in happily as he led them during “Woman, Woman.”

Jay and the Americans were next.  I had forgotten that they sang “Only in America,” a song I always loved listening to as a boy.  Jay Reincke hit all the notes on Cara Mia,” a great tribute to the band’s original lead singer, Jay Black, who passed away in 2021.  All of the groups had a distinctive sound during their heyday and it was their voices that shined on this evening, none more so then the next act, Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Little Anthony.  At age 84 his voice was as soft and sweet as when he released his first hit, “Tears on My Pillow” in 1956!

Closing the show were the Turtles, whose hit song gave the tour it’s name.  Fronted by Ron Dante, the band brought the crowd to their feet repeatedly with hits like “Elenore” and “You Baby.”  Fun fact:  the most popular record of 1969 was “Sugar, Sugar,” by the Archies, a popular comic book series that became an animated show I watched faithfully as a kid.  I was taken back to Saturday morning when Dante did the song.  I wish I had been closer to the stage because I would have yelled, “Now do Bang Shang-a-lang!”

“Sugar, Sugar”

The show ended with all of the groups returning to the stage for a mini-medley that had the crowd on their feet clapping and singing along.  To paraphrase another 60s band, the Beatles, “a splendid time was indeed guaranteed for all!”

SET LIST:  COWSILLS – Indian Lake, The Rain, the Park & Other Things, Love, American Style, Hair.  THE VOGUES – Five O’clock World, My Special Angel, Turn Around, Look at Me, You’re the One.  GARY PUCKETT – Lady Willpower, Over You, Woman, Woman, Young Girl.  JAY AND THE AMERICANS – Only in America, Let’s Lock the Door (and Throw Away the Key, “Cara Mia, Come a Little Bit Closer, This Magic Moment.  LITTLE ANTHONY:  Tears on My Pillow, Shimmy Shimmy Ko Ko Bop, Hut So Bad, Goin’ Out of My Head.  THE TURTLES – She’d Rather Be with Me, You Baby, It Ain’t Me Babe, Sugar, Sugar, Elenore, Happy Together.

A Fan’s Journey: How Brit Floyd’s Music, Friendship, and Perseverance Intertwined

For John DeSanto, music has always been more than just sound, it’s been a lifeline, a source of strength through life’s challenges. Growing up in the Harrisburg–Hershey, Pennsylvania area, John found his early passion for performance through local venues like Spanky’s nightclub, where weekend gigs and daytime work intertwined. That love of music led him to part-time radio work and, eventually, a lifelong connection with the legendary sounds of Pink Floyd.

John’s journey took an unexpected turn when health challenges, including multiple surgeries and a current battle with liver disease, tested his resilience. Through it all, music remained a constant companion. His lifelong admiration for Pink Floyd eventually brought him to Brit Floyd, the renowned tribute band that has captivated audiences worldwide.

“I’ve always felt strongly attached to the music and the lyrics,” John says. “It’s carried me through my lifetime.”

A pivotal moment came when a neighbor encouraged him to see Brit Floyd live. The experience was transformative. John recalls an almost physical reaction to the voice of vocalist Eva Avila, and from there, his connection to the band grew. Through conversations with friends, he became more involved in following their tours, attending VIP events, and forming bonds with the performers.

One of the most meaningful of these connections has been with Christina, a member of the Brit Floyd team. She made sure John felt welcomed and cared for at shows, personally meeting him at VIP events and gifting him Brit Floyd merchandise.

One of John’s most cherished memories came when he brought a quilt to a show, a quilt unlike any other. Made by his neighbors Glenda and Joe, it featured the iconic Dark Side of the Moon prism graphic. John arranged to bring it to a Brit Floyd concert, where the band not only admired the artistry but signed it. That quilt, now adorned with the signatures of the entire group, has become a treasured keepsake and a lasting reminder of the connection between artist and fan.

For John, the experience isn’t about the music, it’s about the kindness and generosity of the people behind Brit Floyd. “Everybody in the entire organization has been nothing but accommodating and friendly,” he says. “I’ve been around a lot of bands, and none of them are like that.”

His story is a reminder that music can forge connections that transcend the stage. John has attended multiple Brit Floyd shows, cherishing each one and already planning to return for their next tour stop. His hope is to see all the band members interviewed so fans can get to know the people behind the instruments.

In the end, John’s journey is about more than fandom, it’s about resilience, community, and the joy that comes from sharing a passion. As he continues to face his health challenges, the music of Brit Floyd, and the friendships he’s formed through it, remain a powerful source of inspiration.

As John says, “We love each other. They’re the most wonderful people… and I keep going back.”

Concert Review: “The Summer of Discontent Tour” Bad Religion/DropKick Murphy’s 8/17/25, Big Flats, NY

Summer of Discontent Tour 2025

Dropkick Murphy’s, Bad Religion, The Mainliners
Sunday, August 17, 2025 Tag’s Summer Sound Stage, Big Flats, NY

Score: 4 out of 5 stars

I know what you might be thinking: Where, and what is a Big Flat? Big Flats is a small town in the Finger Lakes region of upstate New York. Not really a place known for its punk rock scene. The venue for the show was a place called Tag’s. You are quite likely to catch a country or classic rock concert on the Tag’s Summer Stage, but this night, the Summer of Discontent Tour was rolling into town.

Opening the show was a newer band out of Hollywood, California, called The Mainliners. I was not familiar with The Mainliners prior to the show, as I haven’t kept up with the punk scene over the past few years. I thought the young punks from the West Coast did a solid job warming up the stage and the crowd for the more experienced acts that would follow.

Next up on stage was the band I was truly here for: Bad Religion. A name known by many, even outside of the punk scene. The boys in Bad Religion have been going strong since their inception in Los Angeles, back in 1980. Forty-five years later, and these guys are still knocking it out of the park.
Greg and the boys opened up with the title track off of the album “Recipe for Hate” and continued to travel through a set of songs spanning their full catalog of releases, including tracks such as “New Dark Ages”, “Generator”, “Modern Man”, and the very well known “American Jesus”. On top of a killer set list, I can’t say enough how impressed I was with the tightness of musicianship and the sound quality!

Closing out the show was the mighty Dropkick Murphys out of Quincy, Massachusetts. While I’ve never been a fan of their sound, the Murphys have perfected their craft of punk rock infused with a Celtic flair. Their sound was spot-on, and all cylinders were firing at optimum levels. They bring great energy to the stage and really know how to get the crowd fired up!

All in all, I was quite impressed by the show. Big Flats was the final stop of the tour and all of the bands brought it. If the rest of the shows were even half as good as this one, I’d say “The Summer of Discontent Tour” left the majority of the audience feeling very content.

Alongside their milestone multimedia release, ‘The Return of Gor Gor,’ GWAR has teamed with Trick or Treat Studios to launch a new series of officially licensed action figures, perfect for fans who want to bring the Scumdogs’ chaos home.

The band’s Australian return follows the release of ‘The Return of Gor Gor,’ a grotesque, hilarious, and gloriously violent audio/visual assault celebrating 40 years of GWAR’s intergalactic mayhem. Featuring the brutal new single “Tyrant King” and a 32-page comic, the release resurrects GWAR’s legendary reptilian war beast, Gor Gor, in all its blood-drenched glory.

Jizmak Da Gusha says:

“GWAR is obtaining work visas as undercover plumbers to unclog all the disgusting items Aussies put down their drains. But, the truth is, we have been asked to come back to Australia to fix all of their government’s problems. Should take about a week. I’m secretly excited to go down under because it’s shark season and lots of people are being eaten, which is very entertaining for me. Fun vacation all around.”

The Berserker Blöthar adds:

“For the second time in 40 years, GWAR is going down under. That’s right. December 2025, we invade our favorite penile colony. So throw another corpse on the barbie and get ready for metal, mutants, blood, and trickling rivulets of laughter! Because we are the true gods of shock rock, and we are coming to Australia!”

Concert Review: “Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass”

  • HERB ALPERT AND THE TIJUANA BRASS
  • Kaufman Center, Kansas City, Missouri
  • August 5, 2025

The decade of the 1960s gave us some great music.  The Beatles.  The Supremes.  The Doors.  Their sound changed the industry forever.  You wouldn’t know it by listening to today’s music, but when I was a kid instrumental music – loud horns and sweet strings with no or minimal vocals – ruled the airwaves.  Al Hirt.  Sergio Mendes and Brasil ‘66.  But the king, at least in my house, was Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass.  At age 90, Alpert and the Brass took over the Kaufman Center and had the crowd on their feet for two solid hours.

Accompanied by vintage film clips, the show began with the great Louis Armstrong, no slouch on the trumpet himself, introducing the band.  As the opening notes of “The Lonely Bull” began, the crowd roared.  Something about a trumpet that gets your blood flowing.  At age 90, Mr. Alpert could have been excused for taking the occasional break.  But he played every note as strong and as sweet as if he was still in his 30s.  In between songs he addressed the audience and even invited questions.  He told some great stories, from how the “Whipped Cream and Other Delights” came to be to how he met his beautiful wife of 52 years, vocalist Lani Hall, who joined him on stage later in the show for a medley of some of the songs she did as the lead vocalist for Sergio Mendes and Brasil ’66, including “The Look of Lovke” and “Fool on the Hill.”

Before introducing Ms. Hall, Mr. Alpert choked up when talking about his dear friend Sergio Mendes and gave a loving tribute to songwriter Burt Bacharach, who penned his #1 hit “This Guy’s in Love with You.”   I’m not sure if Mr. Apert knew it or not, but Bacharach not only grew up in Kansas City but lived about 20 blocks from where the Kaufman Center now stands.

As the band played hit after hit (“Tijuana Taxi,” “A Taste of Honey,” “Rise”) the crowd clapped along, giving many of the numbers well deserved standing ovations.  The music brought back so many great memories for my wife and myself.  As we left I noticed several young children among the capacity crowd and each one I asked, “did you like it?” gave a resounding “yes!”

The tour runs through January 2026.  If you have the opportunity to see Mr. Alpert and the Brass, I urge you to take it.  For information on upcoming shows, please click HERE.

SET LIST

The Lonely Bull, Work Song, Whipped Cream, Spanish Flea, Lady Fingers, Lollipops and Roses, Bittersweet Samba, Mexican Shuffle, Tangerine, I’m Getting Sentimental Over You, Love Potion No. 9, This Guy’s in Love with You, a medley of songs with Ms. Hall, Rise, A Taste of Honey, Smile, What Now My Love, A banda, Tijuana Taxi.

Media Mikes Score: 4.5 out 5 stars

Designed with Tye Trujillo of OTTTO and Suicidal Tendencies, the latest signature offering from Morley has something unique for both guitar and bass players. The TruDrive combines both Wah and Drive functions in to one screaming package that instantly takes your sound and playing to another. Loaded with top notch features like super smooth switchless on/off (just step on to engage and step off to go to bypass) and a multitude of tone shaping options.

This pedalboard friendly Wah (L 6.85″ x W 4.5″ x H 2.5″) was designed with a slight amount of drive built into the circuit giving the TruDrive added presence and an overall more aggressive bite. To further address Tye’s tone needs the pedal comes equipped with an optical sensor which provides a wider tonal pallet than traditional audio taper pots. Also featured on the TruDrive (a First from Morley) a Wah Mix knob which allows users to dial in the exact amount of Wah they want in your signal. This is a really cool feature and one I personally enjoyed but, Thats not all. The TruDrive also features a separate Drive switch allowing for the option of added drive which can be shaped by way of the (Tone, Level, and Drive) knobs further adding the the pedals versatility.

Morley spared no attention to detail as the Trudrive aesthetics seemed to be just as important as the pedals sound. The shiny chrome treadle w/ diamond plate grip sit atop a custom racing blue painted cold-rolled steel that should stand up to even the most rigorous use and abuse. The TruDrive can be powered via a single 9V battery or a 9V adapter (not included) and features dual LED indicators.

Tye and Morley really have hit it out of the park with this collaboration. From its rock solid build and unique overdriven sound to the ample tone shaping options the TruDive checks pretty much all the boxes. An included power-supply would have been a welcomed addition however given all you can do with this pedal its a small ask that can be overlooked. For the more casual player this may look like just another signature wah with a few bells and whistles. I can tell you that couldn’t be further from the truth.

The Morley TruDrive is a well built and great sounding pedal no matter if used with bass or guitar. I have yet to find any other pedal capable of the sounds this pedal can achieve and I can easily say the TruDrive will not be leaving my pedal board anytime soon as its versatility meets all my needs. As a side note looking back at Morley’s history I think its super cool that Tye is adding his mark to the Morley brand (Tye is a fourth generation Bass player in the Metallica lineage of Morley Bass Players. From Cliff Burton to Jason Newstead to Robert Trujillo) and now Tye himself gets to be added to that amazing list of players. My hope this is just the first offering between the two entities and one that we will see grow over the years.

Princess Goes, the band composed of vocalist, lyricist, musician and actor Michael C. Hall (Dexter, Six Feet Under, Lazarus), keyboardist Matt Katz-Bohen (Blondie, Cyndie Lauper), and drummer Peter Yanowitz (The Wallflowers, Morningwood) — have shared their rhythmic, synth-tinged single “Eat An Eraser” (Resurrection Remix). Originally released on their debut 2021 LP Thanks For Coming, the band has remixed the track to celebrate the release of Dexter: Resurrection–the newest series from the Dexter franchise–and will be included in the ending credits of episode 5. The song is also accompanied by an official lyric video directed by Andy Yanowitz and follows the release of their 2024 album Come of Age (Deluxe).

“In August of 2023 we were in Times Square with no permits, no budget, filming a gorilla style music video for our song ‘Come Of Age’ with director Marcos Siega, whom Mike had worked with extensively on Dexter,” Peter Yanonwitz explains. “The actors’ strike had been dragging on, and Marcos was tired of sitting around not working, so he reached out to Mike and that’s how we found ourselves filming late one night. On a quick break between takes (over a slice of NYC pizza) Mike turned to his old friend Marcos and said, ‘Hey, what if Dexter didn’t die?’ Well, a light bulb went off in Marcos’ head, and the next thing you know Mike is back shooting ‘Dexter: Resurrection’. We couldn’t be happier for Mike and his incredible show. We’ve always tried to let the music speak for itself, and keep Princess Goes separate from Mike’s acting career, but when we were asked by the show if they could use our song ‘Eat An Eraser’ for the end credits this season we jumped at the chance. It’s rare for the show to feature a band in that slot, and we’re beyond honored to be part of Mike’s enduring legacy.”

“Eat An Eraser” (Resurrection Remix) is out today.

Princess Goes – Come of Age – Bio:

“We’re a weird band,” states Princess Goes drummer Peter Yanowitz. He’s not wrong. But weird like David Bowie, Bjork, and Brian Wilson’s Smile might be termed “weird.” In other words: unconventional and quite possibly irresistible.

Princess Goes’ second full-length album, the 12-song Come of Age, is the trio’s most accessible work to date, yet it’s still chock-full of innovative songs that traverse a thrilling and often surprising sonic and lyrical landscape. The first single, “Shimmer,” highlights Michael C. Hall’s powerful, ethereal vocals atop quietly propulsive rhythm lines, and features Stephen Trask (Hedwig and the Angry Inch) as guest guitarist. The track’s equally stunning and expansive video was directed by Tim Richardson (Elton John, Billie Eilish, Givenchy). “Take Me Home” serves up a soaring emotive trippiness that morphs into headbanging moments worthy of the heaviest metaller or your favorite Zeppelin album, while the haunting “Jetpack” showcase Hall’s poignant lyrics and penetrative voice, at once bell-clear and diaphanous, as the song builds to a wild and harrowing conclusion.

The 12 songs on Come of Age are by turns foreboding, mystical and danceable, Ray Bradbury-meets-the-Jetsons in its galactic aural scope. The ominous semi-drone beginning of “Blur” morphs into synthwave spectacularness, the song’s dynamics suiting Hall’s lyrics about “an illicit formative encounter.” Some of Hall’s most pointed writing is on the title track, “Come of Age,” the irresistibly bouncy musicality cut by the singer’s trenchant words: “Godzilla goggles seeing nothing but King Kong makes it hard to get along,” he sings, before deadpanning, “did you really mean it when you told me I was good / or are you just a devil spitting Hollywood.”

“Come of Age,” explains Hall, is neither a command that the audience come of age, nor a suggestion that Princess Goes has reached some adulting milestone. As with much of what the trio does, it just intuitively felt right. It was likewise an easy decision to include a remixed version of a previously released song, the fan favorite “Let It Go.” Princess Goes felt the cut, as originally written, was sort of an outlier. It started with Yanowitz. Matt Katz Bohen took it home, sped it up and it became a little more EDM, but also fun, poppy, and anthemic. The LP’s mixer and frequent collaborator Brandon Bost (HAIM, Miley Cyrus, Lady Gaga) worked on the song with the Princess Goes (and also plays some bass and keys to the album), and now the band can hardly wait to play the new, slightly more expeditious incarnation of “Let it Go” live.

The New York City-bred trio have been gigging and recording DIY-style for several years, self-producing and releasing a self-titled debut EP in April 2020 and a full-length debut, Thanks for Coming, in 2021. Touring the West Coast as well as the UK and Ireland found new fans clamoring to see the eclectic trio. Fan and press raves followed. The Associated Press lauded the lineup’s “mix of glam, dreamy ‘80s New Wave, acoustic folk, Nine Inch Nails intensity,” while Billboard noted the trio’s “palpable theatricality.” Hall, Katz-Bohen, and Yanowitz are seasoned performers forging new creative ground together in PG: Hall is best known for playing moralistic serial killer Dexter Morgan from Showtime hit Dexter as well as David Fisher from HBO’s revered Six Feet Under. Katz-Bohen has played with Blondie since 2008, while Yanowitz is a veteran of the Wallflowers and his own group, Morningwood.

Though onstage and on paper they’re a keyboards-drums-vocals band, Come of Age is rife with guitar and bass, instruments that play a bigger role than on previous recordings. “I think the original sounds that Matt and Peter first made came about because necessity was the mother of invention,” says Hall. “It’s what was in the studio when they first started making instrumental tracks, electronic drums and a lot of keyboards.”

The musical evolution on Come of Age was organic. “We really fully embraced not limiting ourselves,” says Yanowitz, “and we did embrace the guitar heavily–electric and acoustic–and a lot of bass.”

“We like the fact that a lot of the times you can’t tell instrumentally what’s what,” furthers Katz-Bohen. “People say ‘that sounds like a guitar,’ but it’s actually a keyboard playing through a guitar amp. There’s always that ‘what makes that sound? What is that thing?’” The songs manage to be at once catchy and intoxicating, soundtrack-y musicscapes for the ages, synth- heavy but multi-faceted.

Writing new music since the release of Thanks for Coming, PG recorded Come of Age at the band’s Clubhouse near Manhattan’s Union Square. The central location allowed for stellar guests, including next-door neighbor Maria Peña Paris, a Colombian poet who became the Spanish voice on the Latin-tinged “Whatever Whispers.” “We make a lot of noise at the studio, so she probably gets the brunt of that, and she knows all of our songs,” they recall. One of the lyrics she contributes to “Whatever Whispers” (“what kind of glory are you looking for?” ) came to Hall as he was waiting for coffee before going into the studio. The trio worked up the first version together in the studio, starting with Katz-Bohen jamming on a uniquely tuned 1910 upright piano. Other guests populating Come of Age include singer Chantal Claret (Morningwood) on “Beija,” and Grammy winning opera singer Anthony Roth Costanzo on “Saving Grace.”

Illustrative of Princess Goes’ experimental open-mindedness, the title track came from the street. Literally. “I live in Bushwick, in Brooklyn,” begins Katz-Bohen. “You’ll find a random lot of garbage on the streets. But there was a keyboard, I think from the early to late ‘80s. It’s not great, but it does have this one beautiful sound which became the basis of ‘Come of Age.’ So I sent that around to the guys and everyone put their magic on it.”

Clearly, Come of Age flowed sans any preconceived notions or touchstones. But there’s a clear cohesiveness to the album. “Everything you hear still sounds like it’s ‘in the Museum,’ which is our terminology for something that fits in with our aesthetic,” explains Katz-Bohen. Which leads to the shortened band name: There’s no crazy story behind the original Princess Goes to the Butterfly Museum moniker; there are far more interesting things about this trio. But for enquiring minds, they now go by Princess Goes because, in short, it’s shorter. Princess is now free to Go anywhere and everywhere, travelling lighter as PG instead of PGTTBM.

The group’s evolution is ongoing and often unearthly, spacy and provocative in the vein of Bowie’s Blackstar. (Hall played Thomas Newton in the original New York cast of Bowie’s off- Broadway musical swan song, Lazarus). “I think the vibe of the latter third of Come of Age, goes to a place that’s a little more expansive or hopeful or mystically minded,” Hall says. “Though I suppose it starts on that note too. You want some things to have a musical unfolding and flow, but you also want some sort of evolution that makes sense lyrically. I think we managed to do both those things with the sequence.”

And for newbies to the Princess Goes sphere, fair warning: If anyone goes to a PG show to see the “guy from TV,” once Hall is on-stage singing, he says, “that actually sort of takes care of itself. If people have some sort of preconception, it’s pushed aside once we’re up there doing our thing. It’s not unique to this band,” Hall says. “I go to dinner, and people are like, ‘Hey, you’re that guy!?’ And I’m like, ‘I’m not actually that guy.’ It’s just another version of ‘I’m not that guy’.”

Although Come of Age is the group’s second full-length album, Princess Goes are as excited as first-timers. “Until now we’ve been gestating in this small world, being in our own cocoon and working the last bunch of years,” says Yanowitz. “I feel like this group of songs and this sort of statement that we wanted to put out with Come of Age tied in nicely to that. It also felt like we kind of graduated out of that scene the three of had created, and maybe wherever we go next is to the wider world. The making of Come of Age felt like a bookend to the way we were working, a stepping-off point for something new.”

“Divided We Fall Tour” Kicks Off in October
Featuring Support from Onyx, Bayway, and Swollen Teeth

Brooklyn hardcore legends BIOHAZARD are excited to announce ‘Divided We Fall,’ their first studio album in over a decade, out October 17th via BLKIIBLK. Reuniting the original lineup, the album delivers a blistering statement of unity in chaos. To celebrate the announcement, BIOHAZARD has released a new single, “F**k the System,” which is accompanied by a music video available below.

Billy Graziadei (vocals/guitar) had the following to say about the single:

“‘F**k the System’ is BIOHAZARD calling it like it is. The powers that be have us at odds and beefin’ with each other while they sit back and cash in. It’s no accident the world’s burnin’ in front of our eyes. It’s all divide and control – while they keep us divided by politics, class, race, all of it, and have us out here fighting each other, they’re pulling the strings. ‘F**k the System’ is our war cry about the state of the world with no sugarcoated bullshit.”

Produced, mixed, and mastered by Matt Hyde (Slayer, Hatebreed, Deftones), ‘Divided We Fall’ captures BIOHAZARD at their most raw, relentless, and unifying. The album blends the band’s unmistakable fusion of hardcore, metal, and streetwise groove with a sharpened edge for a fractured modern world delivering a powerful reminder of why BIOHAZARD remains one of the most vital and influential bands in heavy music.

Bobby Hambel (guitars) on the album:

“We are really excited to finally have the classic BIOHAZARD lineup back together in the studio. This album has been a long time coming, and the record is straight from our hearts – we can’t wait for everybody to hear it, and to head out and play these new songs live. See you out there!”

Recording sessions took place at Shorefire Recording Studios (Long Branch, NJ) and The Hydeaway (Van Nuys, CA), with engineering by Joseph DeMaio and additional recording from Matt Hyde. Guitar and production tech duties were handled by Phil Caivano.

BIOHAZARD’s upcoming release via BLKIIBLK marks a new chapter in a storied career that began in the late ’80s, one defined by aggressive sound, socially conscious lyrics, and an unwavering commitment to their roots.

About the tour, Evan Seinfeld (vocals/bass) comments:

“Judgement Night. The script writes itself. BIOHAZARD is excited to announce our first headlining tour of the U.S. in more than a decade, celebrating our 30-plus year history with Onyx, two of the most hardcore entities in our respective genres. Bayway are killing it, reminiscent of BIOHAZARD’s early rise, and Swollen Teeth bring an entirely different element of heaviness to captivate crowds and evolve our scene. This is going to be a tribal ceremony and a place to release your negative energy in a positive way – see you in the pit!”

Musical pioneers in every sense of the word, BIOHAZARD were one of the first bands to seamlessly blend hardcore, heavy metal, punk, and hip hop into an intoxicating genre all their own. After more than a decade away, the Brooklyn, NY band’s OG lineup reunited in 2023 to both fan fervor and critical acclaim, headlining the opening night of the legendary Milwaukee Metal Fest for their first show back. Ghost Cult Magazine said they “explosively unleashed their fury with fortitude and force” with “a superhuman set and an awe-inspiring show.”

The band followed with two sold-out hometown shows in New York City, a late-summer festival run in the UK and Europe, and a fall direct support slot with Megadeth across North America. That was just the start. They returned to Europe and the UK in 2024 for the early summer festival season – including a headlining slot at Download – and made their triumphant return to South America in spring, then returned home to blow out America’s exploding festival circuit.

Their return did more than turn heads; it caused whiplash, and they partnered with BlkIIBlk Records to record and release new music. More incendiary and relentless than ever, the trailblazers have a fresh outlook and revitalized spirit. This is more than a reunion – for bassist/vocalist Evan Seinfeld, guitarist/vocalist Billy Graziadei, guitarist Bobby Hambel, and drummer Danny Schuler, it’s a revitalization and rebirth.

BIOHAZARD are:
Billy Graziadei – vocals/guitar
Bobby Hambel – lead guitar
Danny Schuler – drums
Evan Seinfeld – vocals/bass

Band to debut “Hallelujah” at Warped Tour in Long Beach this month
South American headline tour to kick off in October

On the heels of a successful tour alongside Baby Metal, Black Veil Brides are back with their first piece of new music since 2024’s chart-topping single “Bleeders.” The band – comprised of vocalist Andy Biersack, guitarists Jake Pitts and Jinxx, bassist Lonny Eagleton and drummer Christian Coma – return to their roots with the aggressive new track “Hallelujah.” The Tampa Florida based choir “One Voice Ensemble” also leant their talents to the recording. The song is being released by their label partners Spinefarm and was produced by Andy Biersack and Jake Pitts. “Hallelujah” is now available via all digital service providers here: https://blackveilbrides.lnk.to/Hallelujah.

“’Hallelujah’ is an important song for us, not only because it is the first track from the new record, but also as a signifier of what’s to come for the band. On a narrative level, it represents the themes and ideas I am exploring lyrically on the album. I am fascinated by the current state of discourse and how often we seem to prioritize ideological certainty over the heart and soul of humanity. Over the years we have developed a tremendous connection with our audience, which is often dismissed or misinterpreted by the ‘scene. We stand at a unique inflection point culturally and I want to be able to speak openly about how much I believe in being true to yourself over the fear of mass hysteria or in-group recriminations,” explains Andy Biersack. “When my grandfather’s voice spoke to ‘the outcasts’ in the first moments of our first record in 2010, it was a sincere call to arms for all those who feel different. In many ways this record is the natural evolution of that same idea. This is the heaviest and most vitriolic BVB record by far but more importantly I believe it is the most sincere and honest record we have ever made.”

To coincide with the new single, Black Veil Brides is releasing an animated video for “Hallelujah.” The video is directed by Marco Pavone (The Black Dahlia Murder, Pink Floyd, Shadow of Intent). The band will continue to release more visual content over the coming months to support the new song. A teaser for the track got fans in a frenzy when it was released last week. The official music video for “Hallelujah” can be seen here.

The band will also be touring in support of the new single. The song will make its live performance debut at Warped Tour in Long Beach, CA on July 26th. Black Veil Brides will also be making appearances at Louder Than Life in Louisville, KY (September 20), Rock The Locks Festival in Umatilla, OR (September 26) and Aftershock Festival (October 5) before heading to South America for six headline shows. The We Missed Ourselves Tour 2025 will also feature Underoath, Silverstein, Senses Fail, and I Set My Friends On Fire. Few records in punk history have left as massive a footprint as the Descendents’ Milo Goes to College. The 1982 debut fused the aggression of hardcore with catchy hooks, adolescent angst, and unmistakable personality — helping spark an entire genre now known as pop punk. Its influence remains undeniable over four decades later, earning spots on Rolling Stone’s list of the “40 Greatest Punk Albums of All Time,” Spin’s “50 Most Essential Punk Records,” and Pitchfork’s “200 Best Albums of the 1980s.”

Now, Descendents and Org Music are proud to announce the long-awaited reissue of Milo Goes to College, available September 19th on LP, CD, and cassette.

Reclaimed by the band and lovingly restored, this release marks the beginning of an extensive reissue campaign that will include the band’s foundational albums from their early years, originally released on New Alliance and SST Records. Milo Goes to College leads the way, setting the tone for what’s to come with a variety of formats and exclusive editions.

Among them is a stunning limited “Punk Note” edition featuring alternate packaging by John Yates (Stealworks), inspired by the iconic jazz designs of Reid Miles and Francis Wolff whose work helped define the Blue Note jazz label. This visual reimagining of punk classics continues the aesthetic series that began with Org Music’s Bad Brains reissues. Each “Punk Note” title includes new liner notes by BrooklynVegan senior editor Andrew Sacher and is housed in a deluxe case-wrapped jacket.

The reissue will be available in the following variants:

WIDELY AVAILABLE FORMATS:

Black LP
“Grey Matter” LP
Punk Note Edition (black vinyl)

MESA/Boogie: Own the Storied Mark IIC++, Available for the First Time as a Limited-Edition Production Model

MARK IIC++

THE STORIED MARK IIC++, AVAILABLE FOR THE FIRST TIME AS A LIMITED-EDITION PRODUCTION MODEL

OWN AN ORIGINAL ICON
OUT WORLDWIDE NOW ON MESABOOGIE.COM

NASHVILLE, TN. MESA/Boogie® is the original boutique Home of Tone, handcrafting amplifiers of uncompromising quality from the world’s finest materials in Petaluma, California, USA. Today, with reverence and pride, MESA/Boogie has announced the arrival of the storied Mark IIC++® amplifiers. An extremely limited production, now is your chance to own an original icon. The new MESA/Boogie Mark IIC++ amplifiers are now available worldwide to the public for the first time at authorized MESA/Boogie dealers and on www.mesaboogie.com.

We’re excited to bring a very special first official production run of the Mark IIC++, a very special ‘mod,’ done to a very few Mark IIC+ amplifiers at the request of, first Vivian Campbell, and later after other artists hearing about its added gain and girth,” says Doug West, Director, Tone Lab, Gibson Amplifiers and MESA/Boogie. “Over time this mod that was never an official model, logged a healthy list of A-Level artist recordings and this kept our Chief Tech and IIC+ guru Mike Bendinelli busy for decades doing the mod for musicians who’d heard of the legendary aggression for metal styles and sent their IIC+’s bought used to him for an update. This limited run of 200 very special new production amplifiers gives those who have always dreamed of a C++ a chance to own one without the hefty price tag of a pre-owned 40-year-old original IIC+ and the shipping and labor costs for the update. Not to mention that it’s a solid, reliable, and consistent new build backed by our five-year warranty!”

The iconic Mark IIC+ amps were first developed in 1985 at the request of Vivian Campbell, and later by Kirk Hammett of Metallica, along with other noteworthy artists of the day who eventually heard them, MESA/Boogie made some modifications to a few production Mark IIC+ amps to achieve more gain in the overdrive mode and attain a thicker, heavier gain sound. These “++” designated IICs were created for the select few artists who requested them in the twilight of the C+ lifecycle and were never officially offered as a production model. The veil of time has obscured the exact number; however, it is believed that perhaps 20 or so of these mythical IIC++’s were created during the original mid-1980s IIC+ lifecycle.

In the years that followed, players who heard tales of the blistering tone and were into heavy sounds, sent their C+’s to Tech Guru and archivist at MESA/Boogie, Mike Bendinelli, to have the “++ Mod” performed outside of production time at considerable cost. Now, MESA is excited to announce a limited-edition build of only 200 of these rare amplifiers, in tribute to the music played on them and the era that spawned the great guitarists whose work therein has withstood the test of time and become truly iconic.

This new Mark IIC++ build has increased gain in the preamp, which affects the LEAD Mode only, leaving the CLEAN Mode to produce the same sparkling clean performance as the standard IIC+ production model. The LEAD Mode is thicker sounding in these ++ versions, with enhanced low end and more top end gain, cut, and harmonic layering. Visually, the ++ is identical to the current production IIC+ model offered once again, aside from the ++ notation on the etched panel on the back panel and the IIC++ plaque on the front grille.

GRAMMY® Award-nominated songwriter, vocalist, multi-instrumentalist, and producer Wolfgang Van Halen has unveiled all the information for his upcoming third album, The End. The album – released by BMG – is slated for release on October 24. The 10-track album clocks in at 39-minuttes and showcases the evolution of Wolf and his songwriting since he launched his solo career in 2020. Continuing the tradition of writing all the songs and performing all the instrumentation and vocals himself, Wolfgang Van Halen set out to challenge himself beyond what he did on his debut and sophomore release, Mammoth II. From the hypnotic opening of “One Of A Kind” to infectious closer “All In Good Time,” Wolfgang demonstrates his proficiency as a musician and songwriter. Songs like “Same Old Song,” “Happy,” and “Selfish” will fit perfectly alongside older songs that fans have already come to love from Mammoth. Mammoth released their first single in May, and it has shot up the charts currently in the Top 5 at Active Rock radio. The success of the single was propelled by the landmark music video – a remake of the classic film From Dusk ‘Til Dawn – directed by Robert Rodriguez and Greg Nicotero. The video is approaching 4-million views and contains cameos from Danny Trejo, Slash, Myles Kennedy, and of course his mother Valerie Bertinelli. To coincide with the album announcement, Mammoth is releasing the track “The Spell” for fans to check out. MORLEY INTRODUCES TYE TRUJILLO TRUDRIVE WAH SWITCHLESS WAH

MORLEY INTRODUCES THE TYE TRUJILLO TRUDRIVE WAH
SWITCHLESS WAH WITH DRIVE AND MORE DRIVE

Available July 1 at Finer Morley Dealers

Morley®, makers of Wah pedals, volume pedals, switching devices and audio solutions, is proud to announce the release of the Tye Trujillo TruDrive Wah. Tye is continuing the legacy of Morley Bass Players from Cliff Burton to Jason Newstead to his father Robert Trujillo and now Tye who is currently playing bass with Suicidal Tendencies, while also recording new music with his own band OTTTO.

Tye wanted a switchless Wah that had a built-in “Always On” drive as part of the Wah sound, and a Wah Mix control that lets you dial in the perfect amount of Wah. Additionally, there is a separate Distortion Circuit which allows for anything from a slight overdrive clip, to full on metal distortion, and anything in between. The Distortion is equipped with Level, Drive and Tone controls to let you dial in the right drive for you.

Morley’s Bill Wenzloff adds, “We are very proud to be working with Tye to develop this cool new Wah for the next generation of players. Plus, it’s a bonus that this pedal sounds great with guitar as well as bass.”
Tye also wanted the pedal to look awesome, so he decked it out in race car blue base, chrome treadle with diamond plate treadle grip and glow in the dark toe end logo. Plus, the cold-rolled steel housing makes it built to take the rigors of the road and last for years.

MAP price is $199 and is available now just in time for the summer live music season.

Official release date July 1, 2025. Taking pre-orders now!

Product Description:

TYE TRUJILLO TRUDRIVE WAH

Designed with Tye Trujillo of OTTTO and Suicidal Tendencies, this new pedal for guitar or bass combines a Wah and Drive pedal. The Wah is switchless (simply step on to engage and step off to go to bypass) and optical (no more pots to wear out or get scratchy). The Wah was designed to have a slight amount of drive built in which already give the Wah more presence and a little bite. There’s also a Wah Mix knob so you can dial in the amount of Wah you want in the signal (this is a NEW feature never offered before by Morley).
The Drive control comes with Tone, Level, and Drive control knobs to customize the drive circuit any way you see fit, from subtle distortion to full on overdrive growl.

Decked out in racing car blue base and chrome treadle along with a diamond plate treadle grip all give the TruDrive a unique and cool look that will stand out on even the busiest of pedal boards.

Uses one 9V battery or 9V adapter, equipped with LED indication and housed in cold-rolled steel housing for years of use and abuse.

Morley’s mission is to spread the word on Tye Trujillo; a fourth generation Bass player in the Metallica lineage of Morley Bass Players. From Cliff Burton to Jason Newstead to Robert Trujillo and now Tye Trujillo who is currently playing on tour with Suicidal Tendencies and recording new music with his own band OTTTO.
