Bestselling author Stephen King accepts the Mason Award for his “extraordinary contributions to bringing literature to a wide reading public.” King’s literary career spans 40 years, from his debut novel, Carrie, through his most recent work, the short story collection Full Dark, No Stars. King’s next novel, 11/22/63, a time-traveling adventure surrounding the JFK assassination, is due out in November. Presented by the Fall for the Book Festival.
I know you said “novel,” but I loved the whole Dark Tower series.
“It”. Definitely the most disturbing King book I’ve read, and I love King’s “secret world of children”.
The Stand. So many memorable characters . . .
My cousin Gladys left a paperback copy of “It” at my house when I was 15. It took me the entire summer to finish, that was 23 years ago. I’ve been a fan ever since. Winning tickets to see Stephen King would be the best birthday gift ever (my birthday is 9/8).
I greatly enjoyed the Dark Tower books. I believe I began reading them in the 1970’s? (Don’t say that too loud…)
I just can’t pick a favorite from that series, either. Love everything the man writes! I believe he has saved my life…reading… hanging on every word… living vicariously.. savor the novels while I can…always ready for more.
I liked a few of them, and thought The Stand was great
I really enjoyed “Dreamcatcher.”
My favorite Stephen King Book is Pet Semetary followed by Salem’s Lot. Both amazing and atmospheric.
