On March 29, director Steven Spielberg’s highly anticipated new film Ready Player One hits theaters. About Ready Player One:
Spielberg directed Ready Player One from a screenplay by Zak Penn and Ernest Cline, based on the book by Cline. The film was produced by Donald De Line, Spielberg, Kristie Macosko Krieger and Dan Farah, with Adam Somner, Daniel Lupi, Chris deFaria and Bruce Berman serving as executive producers. Ready Player One stars Tye Sheridan, Olivia Cooke, Ben Mendelsohn, Lena Waithe, T.J. Miller, Philip Zhao, Win Morisaki, Hannah John-Kamen, with Simon Pegg and Mark Rylance.

It is rare that a film gets better with each viewing but “Insight” manages to do that. Even though you know the twists, they still are able to entertain and surprise you. The story is driven by a great script and a strong cast. The film is a non-stop thrill ride that keeps you guessing the whole movie. You might not have heard of this film but you should definitely check it out, as it deserves some attention.

Kaitlyn (Zea) is a nurse that while attempting to save of a young woman is accidentally electrocuted in the operating room. After those events, Kaitlyn has memories that are not hers and are those of the young woman who died. She starts to question her sanity and seeks the help of a detective (Flannery) to try and help her figure out what is real and what is not. It is up to her to get to the bottom of what is happening to her before it is too late and the murderer strikes again.

The film succeeds with its all-star cast including Sean Patrick Flanery and Natalie Zea delivering good roles. The film also has notable appearances from Adam Baldwin, Christopher Lloyd and Thomas Ian Nicolas. The special features include a brief behind the scenes featurette and film’s trailer. Overall this is a fun thriller that really delivers some great twists.

Film Review “InSight”

Our Score: 3.5 out of 5 stars

The most important question for this film is “Who Killed Allison Parkes?”. This film is a non-stop thrill ride that keeps you guessing the whole movie. It is well-paced and the surprises are perfectly executed. I am pretty good at guessing the twists but this film had me stumped. The film also has an all-star cast and their performances are well done.

“InSight” follows Kaitlyn (Natalie Zea), a nurse that is somehow linked to one of her patients. When she is caring for the stabbing victim, Allison Parkes, she is accidentally electrocuted by the defibrillator and immediately she starts seeing the victim’s own memories. It is up to Kaitlyn with to use this to help solve the crime along with detective Peter Rafferty (Sean Patrick Flanery).

Sean Patrick Flanery is great in this role and plays the cop well. Natalie Zea gives an intense performance, as the troubled nurse turned victim. Great supporting cast also includes appearances from Adam Baldwin, Christopher Lloyd and Thomas Ian Nicolas. The film feels low budget for sure but tries its best to deliver higher quality production. The editing is well done in the film piecing it together slowly for the big reveal. Overall a small film with some big surprises, definitely worth a watch.

“InSight” Hits Theaters Labor Day

Who Killed Allison Parkes?

Find out when Director Richard Gabai’s “InSight” hits theaters on September 2nd.

Shot in the seedy Boyle Heights district in Los Angeles, InSight follows Kaitlyn (Natalie Zea), an ER nurse who while tending to a young stabbing victim, Allison, is accidentally electrocuted by the defibrillator that was being used to save the woman’s life. Almost immediately she starts to experience the victim’s memories. Kaitlyn turns to family, friends, and the police, but no one takes her seriously, so she takes it upon herself to solve the crime – as the terrifying visions threaten her sanity. Ultimately, Kaitlyn teams up with detective Peter Rafferty (Sean Patrick Flanery) and weaves her way through the victim’s past in an attempt to discover the brutal truth about the murder and herself.
