DAUGHTRY DROPS EPIC VIDEO FOR NEW SINGLE, “THE DAM”

DAUGHTRY DROPS EPIC VIDEO FOR NEW SINGLE, “THE DAM”

The GRAMMY®-Nominated Band Continues Their Reign of Music Video Dominance with Cinematic New Visual Directed by Jensen Noen

GRAMMY®-nominated rockers Daughtry continue their reign of music video dominance with a visual for their new single, “The Dam,” out today on all platforms via Big Machine Rock.

Cut from their recently released, debut Big Machine EP, Shock to The System (Part One), the cinematic video, directed by Jensen Noen (Demi Lovato, Falling in Reverse, Bring Me the Horizon), finds frontman Chris Daughtry fighting for his life in an epic sci-fi setting.

“Working on this video with Jensen Noen was such an incredible experience. He’s a true visionary, and we’ve wanted to work together for a while now. This felt like the perfect opportunity, as only he could capture the scope of my vision,” Daughtry explains. “Three days in the desert made for the most brutal shoot of my career, but I feel it’s the best video I’ve ever done, so it was absolutely worth every minute!”

Daughtry’s Shock to the System (Part One) offers up the first set of tracks in a two-part project that continues pulling back the curtain on frontman Chris Daughtry’s personal life. Six new songs, highlighted by amplified production and commanding vocals, showcase the universal story of a life laid bare by grief and built back up again through sheer determination. The journey through loss may be arduous, but on their new EP, Daughtry delivers a soundtrack to see you through every step of the way.

“This EP in many ways is a documentation of my catharsis – a peek behind the curtain into the healing of my inner self, if you will,” frontman Chris Daughtry explains. “Every day in the studio writing and recording these songs felt like therapy. It wasn’t part of some agenda or conscious effort, it just happened in a very organic way. I hope everyone who listens finds comfort in the fact that they are not alone in their struggles and finds the courage the say it out loud.”

In equal parts strength and vulnerability, the Daughtry’s new single, “The Dam,” sees their powerhouse lead vocalist at the top of his game. Atypically raw, yet still pristine vocals are set apart in cinematic, synth-drenched verses and high-octane choruses, laying the groundwork for what’s to come with the Nashville-based group.

During the panel, Shudder revealed several key updates: the upcoming release of DARK MATCH, a wrestling-themed horror film debuting on January 31, 2025, and a first-look teaser for the sci-fi horror feature ASH, set for theatrical release through RLJE Films and streaming on Shudder in 2025. Additionally, Shudder confirmed the greenlight for the highly anticipated eighth installment of the V/H/S franchise.

“At New York Comic Con we are not only celebrating an exciting 2024 at Shudder, showcasing the fearless and provocative voices of our filmmakers, but looking ahead,” commented Samuel Zimmerman. “As 2025 and our 10th anniversary draws near, DARK MATCH, V/H/S/8, and ASH are just the beginning of our boldest, most frightening year yet.”

The found footage franchise V/H/S will continue with an eighth film, set to debut on Shudder in 2025. The news comes on the heels of a record-breaking opening for the latest installment V/H/S/BEYOND, which debuted on Friday, October 4 and became the #2 most streamed film of all time across Shudder and AMC+ and the most streamed movie in the V/H/S franchise.

RLJE Films and Shudder have acquired the US rights to Grammy Award Winner Flying Lotus’ second feature ASH. The film stars Eiza González (BABY DRIVER, 3 BODY PROBLEM), Aaron Paul (BREAKING BAD, WESTWORLD), Iko Uwais (THE RAID, THE NIGHT COMES FOR US), Beulah Koale (NEXT GOAL WINS), and Kate Elliott (WENTWORTH), and will feature an original score composed by Flying Lotus, whose previous films include the Shudder Original KUSO and a segment in V/H/S/99. ASH will have a wide theatrical release through RLJE Films and streaming on Shudder in 2025.

On the mysterious planet of Ash, Riya (González) awakens to find her crew slaughtered. When a man named Brion (Paul) arrives to rescue her, an ordeal of psychological and physical terror ensues while Riya and Brion must decide if they can trust one another to survive.

Randy Blythe Releases New Memoir on Feb. 18 via Grand Central Publishing

LAMB OF GOD’S RANDY BLYTHE RELEASES NEW MEMOIR
VIA GRAND CENTRAL PUBLISHING

“JUST BEYOND THE LIGHT: Making Peace with the Wars Inside Our Head” Arrives on February 18, 2025

“JUST BEYOND THE LIGHT: Making Peace with the Wars Inside Our Head” cover

Grand Central Publishing (GCP) is pleased to announce the forthcoming publication of “JUST BEYOND THE LIGHT: Making Peace with the Wars Inside Our Head” by D. Randall (Randy) Blythe, which is scheduled for publication on February 18, 2025.

In his gripping, bestselling debut memoir “Dark Days,” Lamb of God vocalist D. Randall (Randy) Blythe unflinchingly wrote about some of the most harrowing episodes of his past.

Now, in his highly anticipated follow-up “Just Beyond the Light,” Blythe shares how he works daily to maintain positivity in a world that feels like it is spinning out of control. In his own words, “Just Beyond the Light” is a “tight, concise roadmap of how I have attempted to maintain what I believe to be a proper perspective in life, even during difficult times.” Written with a scathing balance of hard-edged reality offset by a knowing humor and a razor-sharp wit, voiced in in his inimitable, conversational, everyman-philosopher style, Blythe clearly breaks down his approach to life, which is a personal and idiosyncratic mix of sobriety, art, and surfing. He writes movingly of his childhood in the South, of fallen friends, of what he’s learned touring the world as the vocalist of a successful heavy metal band, and of the very real ways he is doing what he can to leave the world a better place. Above all, he offers readers hope that balance, real balance, is possible, even (or especially) when things seem hopeless.

Compelling, compassionate, and refreshingly honest, “Just Beyond the Light” ultimately reminds readers that “as long as we keep our feet (and minds) planted firmly on the ground that is reality, the sky isn’t falling— it never has been, and it never will.”

“For me, the single most gratifying aspect of being an artist is learning that your work has been useful to others in some way. I’ve been told by lots of readers that my last book, ‘Dark Days,’ helped them – I hope ‘Just Beyond the Light’ does the same,” says Randy Blythe, about this highly anticipated follow-up memoir.

“In chaotic times, Randy’s outlook is a bulwark against despair. His perspective is hard-earned, and ‘Just Beyond the Light’ reminds us that we can all work daily to achieve balance in our lives and strive to implement it in the world,” says Ben Schafer, Executive Editor, Grand Central Publishing.

D. Randall Blythe is a writer, photographer, actor, and musician best known for fronting the metal band Lamb of God. He is also the author of ‘Dark Days.’ He lives in Richmond, Va.

Bruce Kulick & AXN Guitars launching custom ’80s-style guitar line paying homage to his Era of KISS

Bruce Kulick and AXN Guitars Team Up for a Boutique Guitar Line

In the past five years, I’ve seen a revival of my Kiss era… I’m always flattered that it’s not just the music that moved them – the guitars I played also matter”: Bruce Kulick is launching a custom ’80s-style guitar line that pays homage to his Kiss days
By Andrew Daly” – as featured in Guitar World Magazine

Hard rock and heavy metal legend Bruce Kulick and “The Sensei of Vintage 1980s Guitars,” Johnny DiFatta of AXN Guitars have announced a special collaboration to engineer boutique guitars under a new banner, Kulick Guitars.

Meeting Johnny from AXN ignited my love of M-1 guitars from the 1980s. This collaboration will help me create boutique quality guitars worthy of my name on the headstock.” – Bruce Kulick

Bruce Kulick, you know the name… 12 years, 8 albums with rock ‘n roll icons KISS. The Asylum and Revenge records carrying his credits are considered indispensable. 23 years a member of Grand Funk Railroad. Trusted sidearm to Meat Loaf, Billy Squier, Union, Avantasia, Lordi and Michael Bolton.

Guitar luthier and ESP aficionado, Johnny DiFatta from AXN Guitars is recreating the glitter, the glam and the grunge of a short-lived period of time in rock n’roll history. AXN Guitars, a brand name carrying its own weight.

If you’ve caught recent shows by The Bruce Kulick Band, you may have been treated to the sight of Kulick wielding an ESP-styled guitar faced with a recall of his Asylum album era. Consider Kulick’s AXN-backed Asylum boutique guitar a tribute and a mission statement. Retro elegance. Arena-heralding flair.

Watch “AXN Guitars – Manufacturing Specifications” video here:

Remember heavy metal in The Big Eighties? The larger-than-life stages. Pyrotechnics, awesome light shows, fire and more fire. Decibels so loud you felt the vibrations in your bones a week after the show. The image and the glitz and awesome custom-built instruments with graphics. These are guitars made famous by the MTV era of the 1980s.

AXN Guitars founder and luthier Johnny DiFatta wants to keep the spirit alive. Joining him in this preservation effort is former KISS and Grand Funk Railroad guitarist, Bruce Kulick. Together, they’re bringing you Kulick boutique handmade Guitars.

“Bruce reached out because we liked the same things, and we started talking about the guitars he used during his era of KISS,” Johnny explains as the foundation to their future collaboration. “We went over the early 1980s ESP catalogs of guitars Bruce played and used live at that time.” DiFatta adds, “ESP Guitars were one of my two main influences as a guitar manufacturer with the other being early Charvel Guitars.”

KISS’ Asylum will turn 40 years old next year, and with it marking the recording debut of Bruce Kulick with the Rock ‘n Roll Hall of Famers. Asylum served as a linchpin toward fostering a retro homage project starting in 2020.

Johnny reflects, “The ESP Bruce played live in the early KISS days was his 1985 ESP M-1 with a Flip-Flop paint job. It’s the same guitar that is hanging in the Hard Rock Cafe in London England right next to Eric Clapton’s Stratocaster today. So I went on to manufacture and produce a replica of that M-1 ESP but it had a chunkier neck on it. We applied some guitar math and used a caliper tool to examine his favorite ESP guitars. I instructed Bruce on how to calibrate the thickness of a guitar neck. Bruce settled on a slightly thinner neck profile that was very 1980s-ish with an R2 nut. Now Bruce has that tribute guitar and uses it live.”

To depict his own take of the memorable Beatlesque headshots on the Asylum album cover, Johnny spins his art process:

“Bruce said it would be great if we could do a guitar with his face on it from the Asylum cover. I said that was doable and I was already making AXN custom guitars with artwork on them. So I took photos of a guitar without any artwork on it. Since I’m also an artist, I went into Photoshop and designed the guitar. I also went and bought the biggest poster I could find of the Asylum artwork, and I photographed just his face and did a lot of cool stuff with it. I had to move some of the paint splatters around the pickups, the bridges and the neck and move Bruce’s face around until the symmetry was there.”

The result became a tribute guitar. The gorgeous mockup blossomed into a further collaborative effort by two “guitar geeks.”

“Bruce wants to offer boutique guitars,” Johnny relays. “His fans are constantly asking Bruce for more guitars that celebrates his KISS era. We started talking about the woods, the hardware, all the specifications, and the pickups. Everything that is involved in the process of making guitars. Bruce showed an interest in learning more about what makes a guitar truly great. He was intrigued by my knowledge since I’m a luthier and I’m a guitar player and I used to be in a working band.”

Some of the features a Kulick guitar will offer are locking bridges, a single humbucker and a non-reversed headstock carrying the Kulick logo on the front, and the AXN logo on the back. It’s handcrafted and “period correct,” as Johnny boldly asserts.
Retro done not only right, but major league 1980s throw-back guitars.

About Bruce Kulick and AXN Guitars:
Time will only be kinder to the esteemed name, Bruce Kulick, and his contributions. Not only to KISS, but rock n’ roll at large. Johnny DiFatta of AXN Guitars essentially started manufacturing guitars in 2018 and even then AXNs were considered high pedigree. Today, he is well-known throughout the world for AXN Guitars and as the most notable vintage ESP and Charvel historian in the United States.

As “The Sensei of Vintage 1980s Guitars” and someone who knows Eddie Van Halen’s Kramer/ESP guitars inside and out, Johnny usually owns up to 200 guitars at any one given time and he has sold over 1,400 vintage guitars online. The ESP-influenced master craftsman has his sneakers planted firmly in the Eighties, thus it’s nothing less than fate Johnny and Bruce Kulick were destined to join forces.

“I’m excited that Bruce and I have been able to examine and discover the technical details of the guitars he used during his KISS era,” Johnny glows about their partnership. “Because Bruce and I have been working together for the past four years, I have incorporated many of his suggestions into my AXN Guitars.”
In summation of this growing Kulick-AXN endeavor, Johnny notes, “This isn’t about money so much as it is the demand of the fans because Bruce and I totally love these guitars. I’m a KISS fan first and foremost, yet it’s also about our crazy obsession with era-correct guitars of the Eighties.”

Kerry King to Kick Off the New Year with the “North American Headline Tour 2025”

KERRY KING TO KICK OFF THE NEW YEAR
WITH THE “NORTH AMERICAN HEADLINE TOUR 2025”

New Music Video, “Where I Reign” is Released Today

Following his recent tour with Lamb of God and Mastodon and his first European headline tour earlier this year, Kerry King and his new band – drummer Paul Bostaph (Slayer), bassist Kyle Sanders (HELLYEAH), guitarist Phil Demmel (Machine Head), and vocalist Mark Osegueda (Death Angel) – will hit the road for the twenty-eight date “North American Headline Tour 2025.” The tour is in support of King’s debut solo album, From Hell I Rise (RPM), which, according to the UK’s Kerrang!, ”The phrase ‘metal as f*ck’ may never be better applied.” With Municipal Waste as Special Guest and Alien Weaponry supporting, the tour is set to launch in San Francisco on January 15, 2025, and wrap at House of Blues in Las Vegas on February 22. Tickets go on sale Friday, October 4 at 10AM local and can be purchased HERE. The complete itinerary is below.

Also announced today is the release of King’s brand new music video for the album track, “Where I Reign.” Shot in black and white, the “Where I Reign” video was directed by Jim Louvau who also directed King’s videos for the album cuts “Residue” and “Toxic.” “I wanted to capture the fury and the energy of the band in a live setting,” said Louvau, “an intensity that is matched from a visual standpoint that matches the intensity of the song and the energy that the band brings each and every night on tour, and I think we were able to do that. There are some still photos in the video that also show motion and energy, and I was really just trying to bring that energy to life in a live setting that is different from the other two videos that were done in the studio and were a little more in a controlled environment. So this video was definitely the guys’ being themselves and just showcasing what the band provides in a live setting.” Check out the “Where I Reign” music video HERE.

“Kerry King’s intricate guitar work and commanding stage presence once again reaffirmed his status as a metal legend.”
— South Florida Insider, on tour with Lamb of God, Orlando, FL – 7/26/24

“Getting back on the road for the first time in five years wasn’t exactly like riding a bike, that’s for sure,” King aknowledged. “I’ve never had that much time off, but the first tours with my new band – in the UK and Europe, and then in America with Lamb of God and Mastodon – were all total blasts. We’ll be headlining on this next tour, so we’re playing a longer set than we did with Lamb of God and Mastodon. We’ve got a little bit of a learning curve, so will start rehearsing the first week of November. And we might put an extra Slayer song into the set and learn a cover song or two.”

“From the second King stepped out on stage,
the crowd went absolutely wild and never let up the entire set.”
— Loud Haller, on tour with Lamb of God, Richmond, VA 7/31/24

Concert Review: X “Smoke and Fiction” Tour Water Street Music Hall, Rochester, NY

“Smoke and Fiction” Tour 2024

X, Dead Rock West

Thursday, Sept. 26th 2024
Water Street Music Hall, Rochester, NY

Our Score: 4 out of 5 stars

Legendary Los Angeles punk band X brought their unique blend of musicality to the Flower City on Thursday evening for a nostalgic walk through the bands 40 plus year career. The band which formed in 1977 and is made of up bassist John Doe, Vocalist Exene Cervenka, Guitarist Billy Zoom and Drummer DJ Bonebreak announced in June of this year that their latest album titled “Smoke & Fiction” and its subsequent tour would also serve as the bands farewell. Despite the thought of this being the last time fans would get to see the long standing punk staple perform the mood and energy was high as fans made their way into the historic venue.

Opening up the evening was the acoustic duo “Dead Rock West” which consists of Vocalist Cindy Wasserman and Guitarist/Vocalist Frank Drennon. The duo performed a unique blend of alt rock tinged country western that resonated through out the medium sized venue. The bands set clocked in at just under an hour and featured a variety of songs from the groups 5 studio albums. Though the music’s subtle cadence might not be what you would normally associate with a punk show the duo showcased a very polished and enjoyable sound and performance which earned them an ample response from the growing crowd.

Headliners “X” would take the stage next performing a blistering 23 song set that touched on all aspects of the groups career. The band opened up the evening with “Your Phone’s Off the Hook, But You’re Not” from the 1980 “Los Angeles” album followed by “In This House That I Call Home” which comes from the “Wild Gift” album. As the night progressed Exene and John would take brief moments to address the crowd however, the focus was certainly more centered around the music more than the fact this would be the bands last time in Rochester. As the energy in the room continued to build the band tore through a mixture of long standing live staples such as “Breathless”, “The Hungry Wolf” and “White Girl” while also mixing in newer songs like “Water & Wine”, “Ruby Church” and “Smoke & Fiction”. Though there were a couple points in the evening where songs needed to be stopped and re-started the band played the small hiccups off as if they hadn’t even happened with each prospective member retaking their spots and paying little to no attention at all to what had just happened.

Ekene and company began to bring the night to a close via fan favorites such as “Los Angeles”, “Sugarlight” and their unique version of the Doors classic “Soul Kitchen” fans were left asking for more as the band left the stage while the the rawkus tones of “Nausea” still echoed through Zoom’s lone guitar amp. After a brief pause Doe and Cervenka would return for the first of three encore songs performing an acoustic duet of “See How We Are”. The rest of the band would l=them come back to the stage to perform “Come Back to Me” before ending with the Sax and Xylophone tinged “I Must Not think Bad Thoughts”.

The evening was everything a fan of X could have asked for and possibly a touch more as each of the bands four members (all in their late 60’s and early 70’s) continue to perform at a level higher than other bands half their age. With tour dates running through the end of October fans still have just a few more chance to see one of the last great punk bands from 80’s before they put an end to their impressive career. Get out there and catch one of these shows as you won’t be disappointed!

LISTEN TO SHOCK TO THE SYSTEM (PART ONE) HERE

Catch Daughtry on the road this fall with select US tour dates featuring Staind, Breaking Benjamin, and more. For tickets and additional information, visit daughtryofficial.com.
