Film Synopsis:
Senior Charley Brewster (Anton Yelchin) finally has it all. He’s running with the cool kids and dating the hottest girl in high school (Imogen Poots). But all hell breaks loose when charming Jerry Dandridge (Colin Farrell) moves in next door. Charley thinks there’s something odd about him, although no one – including his mom (Toni Collette) – seems to notice. But after too many of his classmates vanish under bizarre circumstances, Charley comes to an unmistakable conclusion: Jerry is a vampire preying on his neighborhood!
Let Me In is probably among the most thoughtful and well-intentioned of horror remakes ever made. Fright Night is a close runner-up and Dawn of the Dead deserves an honorable mention.
Easily the Ring. Isn’t it refreshing to see a protagonist in a horror movie where you feel as though you’re learning alongside them instead of yelling at them as to what they should do because they’re so stupid? It’s a logical movie where each mystery is given a satisfying answer and jump scares aren’t exploited in place of a genuinely spooky atmosphere. Gore Verbinski has proven to be every bit as diverse in directing different genres as Richard Donner.

I would have to go with Halloween (the 1978 then the remake done by Rob Zombie.) I still love the original but I think with the newer technologies and bigger budget that Zombie’s Halloween is great.

Fright Night. Everything else was cheesy in comparison while Fright Night was creepy and cheesy all at the same time the remake captured the comedic relief from the first version while keeping it packed of excitement and FRIGHT! 🙂

I personally like the Halloween remakes. Rob Zombie is a twisted man who knows how to make a horror movie.
There are a lot of good remakes on here, but I remember the remake of House On Haunted Hill. I’ve seen that movie more than I care to admit for some reason =)

I think Let Me In is one of the best Horror movies. With the excellent casting of the children, it is difficult to believe that someone so young and innocent looking can be so deadly. Excellent movie.

I actually loved this remake. I thought Colin Farrel did an excellent job with his role. They kept it scary but added the absolute best cheese they could in the film. We thought it was great. A good way to see a scary movie without getting nightmares or having to be completely scare or serious for an hour and a half.
The Hills Have Eyes scared me both times.
My favorite horror remake is House on Haunted Hill, because it’s got an amazing cast: Geoffrey Rush, Famke Janssen, Peter Gallagher.

As a matter of fact, Fright Night must be the only worthy horror remake I’ve seen worth…um, remaking. It’s tone is enthusiastic but still dark, the kills are creative, comic relief is well used and get this…a parent who isn’t oblivious to their child’s peril.

My favorite horror remake is easily Nosferatu: Phantom der Nacht by Werner Herzog! Klaus Kinski’s performance as Dracula is one of the best I’ve ever seen!

I would say The Crazies!!
My favorite horror movie remake has got to be Let Me In, for Chloe Grace Moretz’s powerhouse performance! Though Let the Right One In was great, I’d go so far as to say that Let Me In surpassed it! Also, I need to mention Zack Snyder’s reimagining of Dawn of the Dead- it was scary, cool, compelling and unusually funny for a horror movie.
The Uninvited was a relatively decent remake. Neat twists.
Much as I love Jack Nicholson; I gotta go with Little Shop of Horrors…I couldn’t go to the dentist for a year thanks to Steve Martin; lol! Soooo much better than the original and one of my favorite films and a GREAT musical to boot!! FEED ME SEYMOUR!!!!
