Consumers should note that the track selections on the two picture discs are completely different. Although available for individual purchase, they are thematically a set.

WATCH THE VIDEO FOR THE 1ST SINGLE, “TOP OF THE WORLD,’ NOW AT PUNKNEWS.ORG

Southern California’s beloved and influential ska-punk band BUCK-O-NINE will make their long-awaited return this year with the release of their 6th album, FunDayMental, on April 19th with Cleopatra Records. The band celebrates the announcement of their first record in 12 years with the release of a video today for a brand new single titled

Top of the World,” that’s streaming at PunkNews.org.  WATCH THE VIDEO FOR “TOP OF THE WORLD” AT PUNKNEWS.ORGhttp://bit.ly/2HPtIpdPRE-ORDER FUNDAYMENTAL NOW AT https://orcd.co/eb25v9k

“Top of the World” is a reminder to take a step back from your reality and evaluate your current situation to make sure you’re running positive and sifting thru the chaos with an open mind.” – Jon Pebsworth (vocals) Formed nearly 3 decades ago in San Diego, BUCK-O-NINE were an integral part in the early 90’s ska scene, who shared the stages with acts like The Mighty Mighty Bosstones and The Specials among others and helped spark a global ska phenomenon. Over the years the band released 5 albums, had songs featured in movies and television and enjoyed the success of multiple singles.

Following the release of 2007’s Sustain, BUCK-O-NINE consistently performed live to fans both old and new in Western states, and has now regrouped for an introspective and infectious new record that shows they’ve still got it!. The band’s sixth full-length, FunDayMental, sees them once again combining elements of reggae, rocksteady, rock and punk into a unique amalgam of music that the act has pioneered since 1991. Amazingly, their lineup also features six out of seven founding members and their “newest” musician, bassist Andy Platfoot, has been in the band for 19 years. That sort of history makes Buck-O-Nine less of a band than they are a family and that dynamic is evident on all 14 songs on FunDayMental, which includes the band’s new material alongside reworked versions of fan favorites “My Town” and “Irish Drinking Song.”

“The album is about life, love and unity.  It’s a reflection of our lives and struggles in this crazy beautiful world.” –  – Jon Pebsworth (vocals) BUCK-O-NINE has confirmed a handful of shows in support of the new album with additional dates to be announced soon.

OH, AND SO MUCH MORE…

Of course there are a lot of headaches and woes right now, but if you’re a music lover, relief is on the way, holiday style! Record Store Day is chuffed to announce a slew of terrific Black Friday (November 23rd) titles available from Atlantic to Pacific at participating indie stores, that will put the jingle back in your jangle this unofficial “Official Shopping Season.” And if that’s not enough, just when you thought it was only 24 hours of your post-Tryptophanic haze, RSD grabs ahold of Small Business Saturday (November 24th) and celebrates a second day of reasons to shop at local, independent record stores for the holiday season.

“I will never get tired of saying that gifts from a record store, for yourself or someone else, are just the coolest things you could possibly get,” adds Carrie Colliton, Record Store Day co-founder/organizer. “And I think that a lot of people are realizing that sometimes what you find at a record store is just a little different, a little more special because the person behind the music– the person who’s putting the release together, the folks behind the package on the shelf feel that record stores are special too.”

Cases in point: Matthew Sweet brings a new full-length LP called Wicked System of Things only to record stores, Manchester Orchestra’s The Black Mile Demos EP gives us an exclusive look at the making of their acclaimed A Black Mile To The Surface, and Tom Morello’s The Atlas Underground (Instrumentals) double LP release is hand-numbered and includes a booklet of guitar tabs, so fans can play along at home. BØRNS Live At Amoeba Music In Hollywood EP makes you feel like you were there for that special record store experience, as does Alice Cooper Live From The Astroturf Full Performance, which captures the band live at Good Records in Dallas, and is in fact released by that store’s in-house label who go all out on this extensive, special package.

New songs, remixes and tributes adorn singles on the RSD Black Friday list from Sting & Shaggy, Kacey Musgraves, U2, The Jimi Hendrix Experience, BABYMETAL, The Joy Formidable, A Perfect Circle, Paul McCartney, Ray LaMontagne, Dio, Night Beats and more. Garbage, inspired by their tourmates Debbie Harry of Blondie and X’s Exene Cervenka, worked with Exene and John Doe to write and produce “Destroying Angels” just for an RSD BF single, and included the band’s rendition of David Bowie’s “Starman”, recorded for Howard Stern’s Bowie Tribute broadcast on the b-side.

This year Weezer proved that classic songs never go out of style and that theme runs through the RSD Black Friday list as well, starting with Weezer themselves who release a die-cut picture disc of their rain-blessing tribute to Toto, “Africa”. The Smithereens dig into the Beatles catalog for B-Sides The Beatles, and some of today’s most impressive jazz artists do the same for A Day In the Life: Impressions of Pepper. Difford & Tilbrook revisit their classic Squeeze song “Take Me I’m Yours” and bring Questlove and Robert Glasper along for the ride, and artists like Tom Waits, The Replacements, Bonnie Raitt and Sinead O’Connor–to name just a few–prove again that Disney films gave us some music that transcends time and genre (and is not just for kids) on a reissue of Stay Awake: Various Interpretations of Music From Vintage Disney Films.

The RSD BF list revisits some beloved albums as well, updating and celebrating titles including Bobby Gentry’s Ode to Billie Joe, Bob Marley & The Wailers’ Catch a Fire, Frank Zappa and the Mothers of Invention’s We’re Only In It For The Money, Gravediggaz’ Six Feet Deep, Sheryl Crow’s Tuesday Night Music Club, The Byrds’ Sweethearts of the Rodeo, Type O Negative’s Bloody Kisses, Collective Soul’s Hints, Allegations and Things Left Unsaid, Madonna’s Ray of Light, Too $hort’s Get In Where You Fit In, Taylor Swift’s RED and Speak Now, Jerry Garcia Acoustic Band’s Almost Acoustic, and Slip, Stitch & Pass from Phish (who almost certainly have Almost Acoustic in their own collections.) Also included are album box sets from Soul Asylum and Toad The Wet Sprocket.

If you “need a little Christmas” well, it’s not right this very minute but record stores can help with that come 11/23 when Rolling Stones guitar gawd Keith Richards will celebrate the 40th anniversary of his first ever solo release (which was a holiday song!) with a 12” red vinyl special of “Run Rudolph Run.” The track was originally released as a 7” in 1978 as a B-side with “The Harder They Come” and in 2007 as the B-side of “Pressure Drop”. Both those tracks appear on the B-side of this anniversary release. More holiday music comes on RSD Black Friday from the likes of Lindsey Stirling, Eric Clapton, Green River, the artists of the Prestige label, Unwritten Law and more (including Emmet Otter’s one-time nemesis, the Riverbottom Nightmare Band!)

In addition to all the music coming to record stores on Black Friday, on Saturday 11/24 Record Store Day will celebrate Small Business Saturday with releases from Ben Folds, Tony Bennett and Diana Krall, Ingrid Michaelson and Kid Doe (a collaboration between Particle Kid and John Doe). Look for more information on those releases, as well as in-store events and celebrations to come shortly.

The titles mentioned above are just an appetizer-size bite of what’s on the complete list of Record Store Day Black Friday titles. The official list, along with more information on each title, can be found at recordstoreday.com. The official hashtag for Record Store Day Black Friday is #RSDBF Record Store Day is on social media: @recordstoreday on Twitter, @recordstoredayus on Instagram, @RecordStoreDay on Facebook

RSD 2018 Ambassadors Run The Jewels are fulfilling their duties by releasing The Stay Gold Collectors Jewel Box, a limited edition metal box set which includes a 12” EP etched with custom Marvel-branded art, an RTJ slipmat, and which provides a fitting place to house your RTJ vinyl collection. More hip-hop, both new school and old, comes to record stores courtesy of Rapsody, J Dilla, Czarface, Rob Base & DJ EZ-Rock, Nas, 9th Wonder and more.

Jazz fans have a lot to be excited about as ORG Music presents An Evening With Ornette Coleman (Part 2), taken from a 1965 concert at Fairfield Hall in Croydon, England. This album showcases Coleman’s experimentation with contemporary classical forms, features new artwork, and is exclusive to RSD 2018. Verve is releasing Ella Fitzgerald’s Ella Live at Zardi’s for the first time on opaque pink and opaque blue vinyl. John Coltrane’s “My Favorite Things” is being released as a 7” single through Atlantic, a replica of the original 7” “My Favorite Things Part I & II”, a hit single for the jazz giant in 1961. And Thelonious Monk’s 100th birthday is celebrated with Columbia/Legacy’s re-release of Thelonious Monk’s 1964 classic Monk.

The Motor City gets a shout out from a few titles this year, including Modern Harmonics’ release of two very early 7” singles from the MC5, pressed at Third Man Pressing. Third Man Records co-founder (and Detroit native) Ben Blackwell curates a collection called The Stooges (Detroit Edition). Speaking of Third Man Records, they offer a little Nashville in the mix, with a single from Joshua Hedley, a new country signing who you’ve probably seen leading the band at the iconic Robert’s Western World this past decade or so.

Today’s stars are well represented this year. Taylor Swift has taken over the pop world with several massive releases and Swifties can pick up special record store colored vinyl editions of three of them this April 21. New West Records’ Jason Isbell’s Live At Twist And Shout, is just that: a a six song recording of a performance from his 2007 in-store at Twist & Shout in Denver, Colorado. Mom & Pop Records has two from Courtney Barnett for RSD 2018: a 12” single with two songs from Courtney’s upcoming LP, and a picture disc edition of The Double EP: A Sea of Split Peas.

The youth are wild, but the kids are all right, and that may be because of the music they get at record stores on 2018. Records geared towards kids but enjoyed by everyone include Rockabye Baby’s lullaby versions of Beastie Boys songs, a reissue from Brookvale Records of Marlo Thomas’ classic Free To Be You And Me and a Blitzen Trapper record created with toy instruments actually called Kids Album!

Various artist compilations and movies from films are a big part of the mix too. Dogfish Head Craft Brewed Ales continues its series of Music to Drink Beer To compilations and throws in a little sumthin sumthin by calling this edition Music to Drink Beer And Make Love To! Past & Present are releasing Girls in the Garage Volumes 2 and 3, collections of rare 60s girl group singles prove that long before Patti Smith and Joan Jett, girls were rocking in the garage as hard as the guys. Select-O-Hits brings us Malaco: The Last Soul Company 50 Years of Excellence, an RSD-curated collection of songs on gold vinyl from the 50 years of Malaco, featuring artists like Johnnie Taylor and Bobby Bland, proceeds of which benefit the BMI Foundation.

The Official Film of Record Store Day 2018 is The Godfathers of Hardcore, which tells the continuing fascinating story of Agnostic Front. Composer Aaron Drake’s score makes its vinyl debut on Record Store Day 2018.

In all, it’s one of the most diverse lists of titles ever to be put together for a Record Store Day celebration and whether you find an armful or a select few that pique your interest, they all play a part in helping us throw our favorite party of the year. We’re gonna leave with something that Reid Robinson of Co-Op Records of Moline passed along to us: “My favorite RSD quote ever was from a few years ago. A short, sweet statement from a teenage girl to her dad-
“YES! Christmas USED to be my favorite day of the year!”

The Jurassic Park Movie Bites Off Income Record!

This weekend at the box office, there were record ticket incomes from the new Jurassic Park movie called the Jurassic World. This movie stars Chris Pratt and has been renowned so far in all of its reviews for being amazing both cinematically and via graphic design and CGI.

Going the Distance With the Jurassic Park Theme

Of course, from a business perspective, you must remember that there are other things to consider when selling a movie like Jurassic World. First, there are things like promotions at Red Flush Canada where you can actually play the slots game based on the movie. But there are sales all over from other Jurassic World things as well.

Children and teenagers especially are flocking to get new Jurassic World clothing merchandise and other items. For example, you can purchase a brand-new Jurassic Park sweatshirt or T-shirt, or you might even be interested in some other paraphernalia like toys and games for children. The movie is a little bit scary just like the other Jurassic Park films, let many children and young teens still love it nonetheless.

A Record at the Box Office

This weekend, several other feature films debuted at theaters around the country, but none of them did so well as this movie. A new Pixar film called Inside Out was released, and it did moderately well, but again, it was no match to what Jurassic World Made.

The Story of Jurassic World

If you’re interested in going to see this film in the theaters, you should try to catch up a little bit about it. Many people who went to see it caught up on the last Jurassic Park films. There were three in all, and they were based on books written by Michael Crichton. Michael Crichton has written many best-selling books that were loosely based in science just like Jurassic Park.

In Jurassic World , which is technically the fourth film in the series, the story centers around a large luxury resorts that is located in the ocean near the country of Costa Rica. This is the new attempt of the owners of Jurassic Park to make Jurassic Park reliable and sellable to tourists who want to come there and see real live dinosaurs. We know that the first Jurassic Park did not work out so well, but the owners of this new park are hoping that this will be an improved version.

The actor Chris Pratt plays an animal tamer who is being paid to try to train the dinosaurs there. There’s a big difference, however, as these dinos were genetically manipulated and engineered… They are like nothing you’ve ever seen before.
